Default Extending IR receiver

Is there any reason why I can not build a 3 foot extension cable for my IR sensor? I have an awkward situation where my VUDU box is located and need about 3 extra feet of cable on the sensor to position it where I can hit it with my Harmony remote.

Thanks

I can't think of a reson why should shound't be able to extend the cable. As long as the signals are directly passed though and the same type of connector is used you should be all set.
