Exclamation Composite video output

There is obviously a composite video output on the back of the VUDU box, but is it possible to use the HDMI out at the same time as the composite output? For that fact does the composite output even work? I ask because I tried to hook up a small 8" monitor to my composite video output on the back and although I had my main TV plugged into the HDMI port, I got NO video output from the compsite video... I then attempted to try the composite through my TV and same thing... NO video...strange... any suggestions?

Check the switch on the back of the VUDU and make sure you're set to 480i and not 480p (you'll have to reboot the box if you switch it). 480p won't work unless the set specifically supports it.

I'm not sure if you'll get video on both the HDMI and component outputs at the same time, my gut says no. But see if you get the composite working first and give it a try.

You can not use HDMI and composite at the same time. As soon as we detect an HDMI monitor, all analog video output will be disabled.

And yes, please check the 480i/p switch to get composite to work on your box. But you shouldn't have to powercycle the vudu box after switching.

Why when I read some literature about the VUDU does it talk about a software update is needed for Composite video? Is that for older or newer models?

I think you are getting Component and Composite mixed up. There is a software upgrade that can be purchased for the XL series of boxes that allows output of HD content over component video. That's probably what you read about.
