While I was in the set up screen we had the power go out where I live in was only for a short time but now I cannot get the box the put anything on the screen. I am set up wireless and the receiver is showing power as well as activity. All 3 blue bars are lit up. The Vudu box itself is showing a green light on the left and a red on the right. The CAT 5 cable is green on the back of the box. I have set up an account online but cannot activate the box now. Please help

Post your system ID so the engineers can try to peek at it (looks like 0x1a2b) it is printed on the bottom of the Vudu and may also be on the box. Be sure to leave the system online as it might eventuall get connected to the internet (that red light will turn green).
You should also submit a service request at https://my.vudu.com/buynow/control/support

It is too bad your system took a power hit at the worse possible moment. Rest assured JohnA and the support team will take care of you quickly.

I have received an e mail reply and tried powering off by unplugging the unit as the remote does not work yet for doing this, although it did work for the short time I was on before loosing power. I have been asked to power off for 10 minutes and have done so twice now but to no avail. Everything seems to be working other than there is no video or sound and the box boots up with green lights for about 1/2 minute or so and then the right light goes red. I know the internet connection is working as the blue light flickers as well as the yellow light where the connection is made on the back of the box. I guess I will hope someone can help.
Thanks Jim |

What video connection are you using? You might have some luck getting past this if you flip the 480 switch on the back to 480i and connect the composite video cable to a monitor.

A UPS is a good idea for any device like VUDU. I've been using UPSs for all my electronics since 2001 and PCs since 1996.
With all the power surges and brown outs we have the UPSs have really done a great job for me with all my electronics. |

To All: I did what some stated and hooked the box up via standard component connections and I was able to get through the activation process.
Problem now is while the box was updating the Vudu screen saver came on and I am not sure what I should do as I don't want to have another problem. Do I just hit the scroll button or any other button to get it out of screen saver or what? Just being cautious after initial power problem. Not sure what will happen after I get the system up and then re-hook up the HDMI as this was not producing a video signal after the power outage. Thanks for any help |
