Default Data Error - Checking

For a number of reasons that aren't really relevant to this conversation, my Vudu went unplugged for about 9 months.

I just plugged it back in for the first time. It downloaded an update, installed, and rebooted. Now it's sitting at the main menu screen saying "Data Error - Checking" and in the lower left it says "Updating movie list".

All menu options are greyed out except Info & Settings.

I searched these forums but couldn't find anything about this "Data Error - Checking" message. Anybody know what I'm up against here?

Since you were offline for 9 months, the STB is doing a SDB and SW catch-up to current data. So, the box should be left on and connected to internet for few hours to 48 hours and the screen will have all menu buttons and strips active. When the box finally catch-up to current SW & SDB, you will see the new screen layout and genric posters when browsing in the movie lists until data all caught up. You can check from time to time during catch up time to see if the box has caught up. After 48 hrs, if box has not caught up, please contact customer support. Thank you for patiention.

I just had this issue come up on a BRAND NEW unit from vudu. It is sitting like this now for 1.5 hours. Nothing has changed, how long does it take and what is it doing?

When in doubt unplug then plug in the box to reboot.

For database updates to a new box, they could take awhile. But if you think the box isn't working, look at the lights where the internet connection is plugged in. If it's updating, it should be flashing like crazy.

Your box could have needed a major update. It's odd as some boxes don't have a problem. My new box needed a lot of updates, but it came up and worked just fine...
