Babylon 5 - The Lost Tales was certainly a loser...

Being a big B-5 fan, I was rather psyched when I saw The Lost Tales was available on Vudu. Now that I watched it, I was like, "Why did I do that?" It was the most disjointed, plotless and disappointing B-5 show ever done. I don't get the point and absolutely nothing really happened. The only characters from the series were Sheridan and Loxley. All the other characters didn't appear. Kinda sad for a 10th anniversary show and it was a miserable show at that.

If you want good memories of B-5, don't rent this one...

Thanks for confirming, Jon, I've heard similar comments from other people, so I'll just stick to working my way through the original episodes again.

When they said "Lost Episodes" they should have stayed lost.

It's basically two mini-episodes that have pretty much nothing to do with each other except for one small detail. It would have sort of made sense to have them as individual TV episodes, but to do it in a production movie makes you scratch your head.

Little is done to tie up some of the loose ends from Season 5 - such as what about the Keeper that was given to Sheridan's son. How does Sheridan die, why was the station destroyed, etc. It does nothing.

The characters all seem sort of bored as well. Kinda like, "Why am I here?" There's no life or energy. And given that the actors that played Dr. Franklin and Jakar have died in real life, it's kinda hard to have a crew reunion. Still Jakar could easily be played by someone else. I doubt I spelled the name right - my Narn isn't too good.

The one positive is that the special effects are very well done and blow away those in the series itself.

A good friend asked how this compared to "Legend of the Rangers." Legend was a very good film compared to Lost Tales...

I was so excited when I saw the offering on the box, but after watching it I'm torn between my insatiable desire for more B5 and the fact that it really wasn't that great.

Well, the only way to see more episodes on the box is for Vudu to get contracts to allow rental/purchase of TV shows (hint!, hint!)

Yeah, that'd be great, but since I already own all the seasons of B5 and all the movies, I'm more interested in new material!

Although I'm really not too sure about that now that I think about it. I don't think B5 could ever be as good without Andreas Katsulas playing G'Kar.

I have to agree - this one was pretty bad. ...I only kept it playing to test streaming and read a book instead.
