Movies that appear in other lockers but not Vudu

Are there other movies that show up in other lockers like CinemaNow and Flixter but not Vudu?

For instance. Space Jam appears in every other place for me but not Vudu, and it says 'UV' on the Vudu page. I tried asking them twice and on the second time I think they said something about licensing issues? How can this be? The movie is the movie and Vudu has it and it says UV...so it should appear correct? Can someone elaborate on this issue please?

One issue I've had is with different editions/versions of a movie not showing up, for instance, I have The Patriot Director's Edition which is UV, but that is not the version Vudu has, so it has never shown up in my Vudu library.

If you would like to send me a private message and include the email address for your account I can take a look. I may not be able to fix it, but should be able to point you in the right direction.

In my experience, UV titles are more likely to be missing at the other sites than at Vudu...

Cowboys & Aliens, Space Jam, The Iron Giant, Adventure Time: Season 1 (which Vudu doesn't have the rights to or somesuch), anything Robot Chicken related (ditto), and Blade II: Bloodhunt.

It's a constant back-and-forth between Vudu and Flixster for me. Vudu will say that it's Flixster's problem (despite the movies also showing up in my CinemaNow locker), and Flixster doesn't understand why it's happening, and then will either tell me that it's Vudu's problem or they'll actually just close the support case without any resolution. I've honestly just given up on ever seeing those movies in my account.

The problem is precisely because there is no "the movie is the movie". As someone else mentioned, there are different releases and cuts and even remakes with the same titles, and even when it's a slightly different edit of the exact same movie, the two versions can have different licenses and different license owners, so they aren't interchangeable, despite what your common sense might make of it.

So to deal with these different versions, each one has a unique ID number (ALID). The issue is when one provider uses a different ID number than the others, and then the first one says "OK, Seth has rights to movie ID #64721", which let's say is The Smurfs. Then let's say Provider 2 has The Smurfs, but they have it as ID #81263, so as far as Provider 2 is concerned you do NOT have UV access to The Smurfs.

So each one thinks they have the right one, obviously, but to be honest I'm not sure what determines who is "right". Vudu is usually pretty helpful with this -- maybe press for more of an explanation, and drop the "ALID" term to see if they will explain more.

There are a few movies like that. I have one that's giving me trouble. Miracle on 24th Street with Mara Wilson (1994) shows up as the 1947 black and white version on Flixster and Target Ticket.

Also, other providers have The Truman Show, but vudu does not. I still want it, But I'm not paying full price to get it when I have it on DVD.

Can't be licensing issues as it shows up in my Vudu account just fine.

Wondering if it also has to do with how we got the title. Cowboys & Aliens aside, most of the titles that are from Flixster that don't show up in Vudu were given during a promotional period.

UltraViolet is UltraViolet and those titles should show up in all UV accounts. However, THEY DON'T! I am working with another retailer right now because I purchased four UV titles from them and only two appear in all my UV accounts. There is no reason for the other two not to appear.

Are these two titles UV-eligible at all your UV services? Even if it was UV-eligible at the retailer where you bought it, it won't appear at other UV retailers unless it's UV-eligible at that retailer.

For example, B&N/Nook Video carries most Lionsgate & Miramax titles but AFAIK none of them are UV-eligible there. Not only does that mean those titles won't play at other UV retailers if you purchased them at Nook Video, but it also means you can't use a UV license purchased elsewhere (Vudu, Flixster, etc.) to play them at Nook Video. (That's important for Nook HD, Nook HD+ & Galaxy Tab 4 Nook owners as their built-in movie libraries use Nook Video; if it doesn't carry the movie you must use another UV retailer's app -- B&N recommends Flixster, but Vudu works as well. Also, to get UV titles in HD on the Nook HD & HD+ you must use Nook Video or the Google Play version of Flixster; Vudu, the Nook Store version of Flixster, and the GT4 Nook don't support HD at all.)

I want Grandma's Boy and Club Dread, and Target Ticket lists them as avaliable on their site, complete with UV logo, so I wonder if they would carry over to here, because I'm tired of waiting for those.

Silent Night, Deadly Night Parts 1 & 2 are not UV on Vudu. Bought them at Target Ticket and they are UV enabled there and show up in my UV locker. Vudu has these movies but they are not UV and therefore, I can't watch them through Vudu.
