    Muppet Christmas Carol

I imagine this should be a Disney Movies Anywhere question, but they're closing up shop, and I'm watching it through Vudu...

Why was a song cut out? "When Love is Gone" is, for lack of a better word, gone. It cuts from Belle about to sing to Rizzo & Scrooge crying post-song. There was no glitch or anything. It was actually pretty well edited. I only noticed because I know the movie so well (but this is my first time watching it through Vudu).

They left "The Love We Found" at the end of the movie, which doesn't make sense when you cut out the song it is referencing.

And they left the celebrity version of "Love is Gone" during the credits.

    Come on, Disney. Wth.

It's listed in the featurettes as "Deleted Song"? SERIOUSLY!?

Removing the song happened some time ago. I have the SD DVD that includes the song. It should be included but its not going to be now. They?d have to re-release it. It is in fact very sad as the studio indicated as their decision. Its still a great part of the movie and should be in it.

It?s because when they ordered the HD scan of the film, no one informed them that this scene needed to be reinserted, so they just ran the cut negative, and no one is willing to spend the ten grand to remount the assets and insert it. These kinds of things is one of the reasons why Fox actually has their head archivist now I spent assets coming in and going out.

So, since Disney is restoring the song to the movie, can those of us who already have it in our libraries get that version amended, please?

Disney claims they finally restored the song to the movie last week.

Since my Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope was changed to include the stupid "Maclunkey" to match Disney+'s version, can we get our existing Muppet Christmas Carols updated as well?

If I spend the $8 to upgrade to UHD, will it be the corrected version, or will it still be the incomplete version, just with a clearer picture/sound?

I’m sure it’s up to Disney whether or not they release the extended version for purchase. For now, it appears to be Disney + exclusive, similar to the IMAX enhanced versions of certain Marvel movies.

Welp, I watched it on Disney+ on Christmas Eve, and it's still not fixed, so the point is moot anyway.

But if they're forcing me to sit through "Maclunkey" in Vudu's Star Wars without my choice, then they should fix what never should have been broken in the first place (the version I saw in theaters & currently own on DVD is "uncut," and I didn't know this was even a thing until I first watched Vudu's version 5 years ago).

Now it's 2023. If I upgrade my Muppet Christmas Carol from HDX to 4K UHD, will it include the song?

Hoping it does so my dad will stop forcing us to watch his old VHS every year!

I watched it (HDX) on Christmas Eve as I do every year, and it still wasn't reintegrated. I had to exit out, go to the special features, play the "deleted song," then go back to the movie.

I know this isn't Vudu's fault, and if Disney themselves haven't done it on Disney+, then I don't know what Vudu could do, but then stop claiming to fix what never should've been broken in the first place unless you (Disney) actually fix it.
