Bond, James Bond any of them

    Hello:

Now that MGM is getting nicer, and the release of Q of S yesterday, maybe vudu management and marketing can get with them and set up a deal to have 007 available for us vudu loyalists.

Just a thought timing might be right.

That reminds me, I still haven't seen Casino Royal. (there's a subtle hint in the last sentence...)

I don't know if you guys have Comcast in your area but it looks like they might have the exclusive digital license for now. I just saw a commercial that said something along the lines of "every single James Bond movie in HD only on Comcast On Demand".

        JohnA,

I saw this also. Its shameful that a studio would license to only one distributor.

But Comcast plays these exclusive deals all the time. When I was doing work for them in the 90's they had a exclusive deal with Turner that prevented Christmas specials from showing on any other cable system except for theirs. Turner would put up the message that the content was not avaiable in their area.

For a content provider, if someone is willing to pay extra to have exclusivity, it makes sense to do it as long as the money is right.

Although I would have no desire to watch the craptastic HD VOD that comcast has. The FIOS HD VOD is better but that's not saying much either.

Blah @ Comcast's exclusivity. Oh well, I guess, I'll stick with the Blu-Ray versions that I got from Amazon's Gold Box deal earlies this week (two 3-packs for $65).

              I wonder if that's true.

On Directv they provide the MGM Movie channel. I find it hard to believe that MGM wouldn't play Bond movies on their own network channel. Nor do I think that if Comcast provides the MGM channel that MGM could discriminate their content between 2 providers.

Again if the cable companies are paying for exclusivity then they really haven't thought things through. I'm not going to change cable companies just to watch a single movie. The studio is turning away their cut of the money I would otherwise be paying Vudu to rent these. I'm sure there are Apple TV and XBL customer who feel the same.

They need to rethink there distribution strategies. It's like showing a film in only one chain of cinema and expecting people to go out of there way to find it rather than just watching something else locally.

That sucks. reminds of the studios taking bribes in the HDDVD vs BR war.

Why not just put it out there to everyone and make the money? What a joke.

Just because Directv has the MGM channel, that doesn't guarantee that the Bond movies will be shown. We have MGM titles but no Bond.

From advertisements I have seen, Comcast is saying they have all the Bond movies exclusively available on their OnDemand service. I imagine that this is in concert with QoS being in theaters right now. I'm betting that once QoS is out of theaters that this Comcast exclusive will go away and that the Bond films will begin to be available to all VoD providers.

Just an FYI, 360 is promoting 21 Bond movies in HD (incl. Never Say Never). So somehow they got around Comcast's exclusivity.
