Top 40 requests of ALL TIME!

Been nearly a year since I compiled this list from the forums, and Vudu has added...5 titles.

Come on Vudu, take our money.

Hello Vudu! These titles are THE most requested according to your customers. Some of them have been available in the past, one is currently rental only. Any chance of getting these added, or at least an acknowledgement as to whether they CAN be added at some point? Holding breath, as are the HUNDREDS of people that have asked for some of these:


Abyss, The- Awaiting repromote with True Lies for Avatar 2
Cocoon- some kind of legal issue, also why Blu-ray wa pulled
Dogma- massive legal issues. Currently caught up in Weinstein fiasco
Willow- After Disney bought Lucas, all Fox distributed films were pulled that they could


Of course many of us would also LOVE to see the Studio Ghibli features available, but I'm sure that is a different matter.

Miyazaki would prefer you only see his movies in 35mm, in theaters. It took a decade for him to even allow digital prints. Digital is not something that sells in Japan, expect to keep waiting a long time.

Still a lot of top wanted in the list, at this point I think we have to wait for Mel Brooks to drop dead and have his estate cut Young Frankenstein loose...

Maybe somebody can shed some light. Why would studios not want these films available? They can only make money from doing that. I have been patiently waiting 4 years and the catelog titles just do not become available often enough. There is about 40films on this list i would buy instantly. Frustrating

The simple answer is long contracts with cable TV, like Turner Classic Movies having exclusive airing rights to a movie for years on end with an option to renew. I've noticed a lot of MGM titles that go on sale from Vudu just happen to be the same content airing on their cable channel that month. Watch it on Vudu or pay for cable, one way or another you pay. Some of these contracts for cable rights need to die, cable pays big money for rights that's why they gouge your eyes out every month...
I'm all for cord cutting but man do they make it difficult.

I think its time to release a new 40 with the movies that have been added out. Replace them with movies like Run Fatboy Run, Double Impact, Bloodsport, Lionheart, Ricochet, Virtuosity, Young Guns 2 and Love Stinks. Also The Cure with Brad Renfro was really good.

The Top 40 list is amazing! Some of my favorite films are on the list and I am waiting eagerly for them to debut on Vudu. My most requested:

I created that list based on seeing the same titles requested over & over. I went through the first 30+ pages of this category (at the time), and took note of the ones I saw most. Many on your list deserve to be in here, but they just didn't have the numbers. Rest assured some will be on it when it gets revised.

Now, for some good news:
Some titles you have listed are available via Vudu's Mobile D2D service. These 2 for sure:
