Why are some series so overpriced for season pass?

There are some current TV series that the season pass is crazy expensive.

Dr Ken season 2 is $29.99
    Agents of Shield is $39.99
    TWD is $41.99

Just seems awfully high to me considering that the digital season pass comes with 0 special features, and with the fact that these shows are all available on-demand from various sources the next day if you miss it live.

(I an not interested in TWD anymore, but still the price proves my point)

Because with on demand you are just watching the show. With season pass you are buying it and it will stay in your collection. So it's pretty much priced at about what the Blu-Ray will cost when the season is released.

Except the blu-ray has better sound, special features, and often comes with a code to redeem for the digital copy anyway.

They shouldn't be pricing it the same as the blu-ray, they should be trying to be more competitive.

Now that so many services like Vue and Sling TV are coming around, not to mention all the network apps for Fire TV and Roku, people in areas where they can't get cable or antennae feeds are no longer force to buy a season pass from a service like Vudu or Amazon in order to watch their favorite shows.

They should keep that mind as the market changes

I don't know about you, but all of my favorites that are in on-demand apps, leave their episodes. Maybe it's just my shows? But with On-Demand, DVR, Hulu and Netflix, you'd think the prices would be a little lower. I want Veronica Mars, but refuse to pay $90 for 3 seasons. Sure, the bundle and save option puts each season around $17, but refuse to buy anything with the ugly bundle and save artwork. If we had the option to unbundle our bundled items, I would snatch it up.
