Netflix Originals - The OA...Stranger Things... etc

So I know that a couple Netflix originals are available on Vudu (House of cards/OITNB)but a lot aren't, and I was wondering what the criteria are for them eventually getting a release to BUY outright on services like Vudu.

I subscribe to Netflix and will more than likely continue to, but there are certain shows that I still would love to own. Recent ones that come to mind are "The OA" and "Stranger Things". Of course I don't expect them within a year of their original air date but how do we ever know if they will get a release on Vudu - for instance "Bloodline" season 1 is coming up to 2 years since the original release and it's not available.

Any info on this? Are there deals to be made? or is there a firm answer from Netflix, like "yes - but only after 2 years" or "no - we will never allow our shows on Vudu"...?

The Netflix shows on VUDU are distributed through other studios (Sony for HoC, Lionsgate for OITNB, etc), so it will depend on who has digital distribution rights. Sometimes that's tied to DVD/BD rights, but that's not always true.

I figured something like that, but mainly I guess I'm asking if there is a way for us on the consumer/customer side of things to find out what may or may not become available someday?

Sadly, I heard that Netflix has the final say on distribution of Stranger Things and that they do not intend on giving rights to Vudu, Itunes, or other streaming services. However, as you probably know by now, Netflix did make an exclusive blu ray deal with Target and Target released the BD set a month or two back. I can understand why Netflix wouldn't work a deal with Amazon since they're a competitor and both do original programming but I don't get what their hang up is with Vudu. But hell, the original Halloween and the 4th and 5th still aren't on Vudu. I'm hoping when the upcoming Halloween film comes out in the fall things will change but I'm not holding my breath.

Yea, I don't entirely get it, but not completely surprised either. Hopefully one day they will realize the potential profit to be made from people like me who will keep paying for Netflix as well as buying certain shows/movies Vudu etc.

When season 3 came out Vudu listed season 1 and 2 and I think they were for purchase, either by episode or season, but while the listing for season 1 and 2 are still active if you do a search on Stranger Things, the links to rent or buy are gone. So it sounds like Netflix for a brief moment was like, "ok, lets give it a shot" but then changed their mind. If they are available for sell again, I'd be nervous about getting them because if they lose the rights again and there's any transfer issues, Netflix won't bother to fix the issues.

I'd really like to see the last two seasons of 13 Reasons Why added. I know they are distributed by Paramount. FelipeF any way Vudu could check on getting these two seasons?
