I'm just happy the episodes are in the correct order, instead of the way FOX stupidly chose to air them.

I hear you on that one. Sci-Fi, or someone else, aired them all a few months back in HD, and I DVR'd 'em all first, so I could watch them in the "proper" order.

Only thing preventing me from buying them all right now; I'm waiting for the HD verions (absolutely stunning show in HD) and the Season Pass pricing for the whole season.

        Re: Talk about Firefly

I am by no means a science fiction fan. A friend made me watch Firefly and at the end of the first episode I was not at all impressed. He urged me to stick with it, I'm glad I did. I never watched Buffy so I had no idea who Joss Whedon is, I now know he is a genius.

If I am not a fan of sci-fi then my wife downright loathes it in comparison, yet she got hooked on this series as much as I did. If you've been hesitant to watch because space cowboys aren't your thing, give it a shot. One word of caution though, You may be tempted to use that introductory low price to purchase episode 1, but I think this episode is marginal.

It's a tragedy that this show got canceled, but now a days that's a sign of quality. Think of "Action" "Freaks and Geeks" "Carnivale" "Arrested Development" all great shows gone before their time.

        Favorite episodes include
        Our Mrs. Reynolds
        Jaynestown
        Out of Gas

          Re: Talk about Firefly

It's good to hear from someone who came to Firefly as an "outsider". I am a big Buffy fan and an even bigger fan of Firefly. (Sometimes fans refer to themselves as browncoats, which will make sense now that you've seen the series.) I must have watched the series in its entirety about 5 times, and it never gets old. But since I was so psyched to watch it, it never really sunk in that the first episode was not as strong.

Now that I think about it, do you mean "The Train Job", which was the first one aired, or the two-hour "Serenity" episode, which was written to be the pilot? I can't look at my Vudu now to see in what order they have them there.

If you have never watched Buffy, my favorite episode is "Once More, With Feeling", but then again, I'm not sure how that would play with someone new to the series. Last time I checked, it wasn't on Vudu; I think it's from Season 5.

            Re: Talk about Firefly

I'm an outsider as well. Never have watched Buffy.

My first exposure to Firefly was the Serenity movie. I thought it was OK. But that's not the pilot episode which I thought was pretty decent. I've not watched an episode in a while as I've really gotten into the series, "Shark." But once I've caught up on Shark, I'm sure I'll go back and buy some more Firefly episodes...

Now if Vudu would only get a series like B5, that would be way cool....

For anyone that owns one of those PhazGorzmic Directv HD boxes, Firefly is being aired on the UHD channel in HD every Saturday night now!!

It's also being aired on the SciFi HD channel too. But I haven't watched one on that channel yet to verify whether it's in HD or not.

While your in one of your lucid phases it might be interesting to see a review of how the Vudu SD version compares to vs the DTV HD version.

                  Re: Talk about Firefly

I watched the series on DVD (series then high-def movie) and really wish it didn't have to end. Although, it's easy to see why it'd not be accepted by mass audience. It's more of SciFi channel show but they probably didn't have the $$$ to finance it and/or buy rights from Universal.

FYI, a Blu-Ray set of the complete series should be coming out at some point in time. You can already preorder it at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0018QI5UM) but no details or set date is set yet (http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...r_Blu-ray/1632).

I recorded one episode the other day from the SciFi HD channel, and it's definitely not in HD. But the episodes on UHD definitely are.
