I watched it last night but now I'll need to watch it again with the extra content and HDX at 1080P. It should look much better than on FOX in 720P.

I know OTA will look better but unfortunately, I can't get anything OTA down in Santa Clara since all the towers are in San Francisco and Oakland.

Why would OTA look better with MPEG2 at around a 14mbs bitrate(which is what Fox uses if i remember correctly).
HDX with MPEG4 at 10mbs average(20mbs peak) should blow away Fox at 720P with MPEG2 at 14mbs. The extra resolution alone should make it look better.

For instance, i have the Sarah Conner Chronicles on Blu-ray Disc in 1080P24. It blows away the 720P FOX broadcasts since there is so much more detail you can see than with the brodcast resolution of only 720P.

While I dont doubt the BR version of a 24 season looks the best, I have not seen anything in HDX that tops 720p or 1080i HD OTA.

OTA broadcasts also vary from market to market, so you cant base what you see on what Im seeing unless we live in the same viewing area.

I was referring to OTA vs Comcast's overly compressed HD at 720p.

Yes, big difference there. When I comapred OTA, comcast and FIOS. Comcast was easily at the bottom, while FIOS and OTA looked teh same since FIOS doesn't further compress it like Comcast sometimes does.

I thought the movie was good, was tense like some episodes but it appears to have set all the players for the new season. Def. a must see.

OTA PQ was great, so Im sure the HDX version will be nice.

Every broadcast I've seen from OTA since 2001 has macroblocking during bright flashes, fast pans, and fast movement. I've viewed HD from the Baltimore and DC stations since 2001. Even when they were using the full bandwidth available(around 19mbs) back in the early 2000's there was macroblocking. HDX does have some macroblocking, but nowhere near what I've always seen from OTA and National broadcast HD stations, on DirecTV, Comcast, and FIOS.

The Fox national feed is around 14.6mbs to all the affilliates so they can easily splice in what they need. In my area they broadcast that full feed so I see the best quality that is avaialble from FOX. HDX easily beats it.

In contrast the other networks send around a 40mbs to 45mbs feed and the local stations recompress it to the bitrate they want.

Hmmm. I have these issues, but not with Fox. I have yet to live in a market (3 so far) where NBC does not suck. Heroes looks like crap (the freaking new HD Ozzy commercial looks better) and shows like Knight Rider have pasty skin.

Actually, I took it out of my Series Link, but when I read they fired part os the staff and were taking in a direction to mimic the old show, I started recording again. Hopefully see the new format in Jan.

I really wish Fox wouldn't charge a full price for the special ($19.99 for HDX version) or would release the Blu-Ray version. But from reading the forums it seems the consensus is that the movie will probably be bundled with Season 7 (whenever THAT comes out).

I was hoping the cost would have been less, but with the extra 17 minutes of footage I will be purchasing it. Without that extra footage I wouldn't have even considered purchasing it .

I just watched the first five minutes of the 24:Redemption HDX title. The video quality is easily better than what I saw broadcast Sunday night.
