I wish, they'd release it on Blu-Ray too. More TV shows need to be on Blu-Ray. I don't feel like buying DVDs when I know that a show is shot & shown in high-def.

Does not compute. Day 6 aired on schedule and Day 7 is set to go on schedule - no writers strike impact that I can detect.

Day 7 was supposed to start this fall but they only shot 7 or 8 episodes before the strike. And since they air all episodes consecutively with no breaks or repeats, they had to push it back to January '09.

UPDATE: aaronwt is right. I can't believe I confused Fall and Winter. I'm a bad 24 fan

They had filmed several episodes before the writers strike and it was supposed to air in January of 2008. When the Writers strike happened they decided to not show any of the episodes they already filmed and to push it back a year to January 2009.

The current season is year behind when it was originally scheduled
                to start.

The last time new episodes of 24 was on TV was in 2007(January to May).

24 doesn't air in the fall, only January through May. Although this year they have a special movie on in November.
They were supposed to film a theatrical movie too. I don't know what effect the writers strike had on that.

Per Patrick in the Black Friday promo thread:

Starting tomorrow, we will have 24: Redemption available for purchase in SD, HD and HDX, all with 5.1. This is the extended edition with 17 minutes of content not shown in the broadcast version. As there is not a Blu-ray release of this, the HDX version will be the highest quality version of this available anywhere.

Didn't watch it, but heard most of it was pretty boring.

Let me know what you think.

I have it recorded too but I might just wait till tomorrow to watch it in HDX since the Fox HD feed in my area is heavily compressed.

The fun part will be posting "spoilers" about the extended content - especially false spoilers (i.e. I can't believe how realistic the jungle fight between Jack and the lion was).
