    TV IS HERE?!?!

Well, now I am extremely happy to have my VUDU! Looks like TV is here or on its way (not sure, my router is busted, so I am not getting updates).
    ----
    From - Crave.cnet.com

"When we reviewed the Vudu back in September, we said "only feature films are available, but Vudu says that TV shows are on the roadmap." Vudu made good on that pledge today, adding 12 TV shows to its content roster. Episodes are available for $1.99 each--the same price you'd pay for TV shows on Apple's iTunes Store.

TV content on Vudu is said to be "in beta," but it should be available to all Vudu owners as of today. The initial dozen shows offered are: 24, Arrested Development, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Family Guy, Firefly, Lost in Space, My Name is Earl, NYPD Blue, Prison Break, The Riches, Shark, and The Shield.

While all of the TV shows will be available in standard-definition, Vudu has been experimenting with HD programming as well. Today marks the availability of The Bourne Ultimatum on Vudu--the same day it hits DVD and HD DVD--in standard and high-definition versions. The previous two Bourne movies have been available for free viewing on Vudu in HD since November 23, and the company says that "more HD will be coming."

    Incredible! Just Incredible!

Cool!!! I know I never got into The Shield, so I might actually start watching it from the beginning now!

No to mention the new TV Forum (where this thread is now located)!

This is what I would consider the "killer feature" for this appliance. While the library does not likely compete from the start, it is easier to use than the Apple TV, and "just does what you want" in comparison to the TiVo/Amazon Unbox option (for those that do not need the DVR features).

So far we are missing a few from that list, but I expect to see them soon. The MIA are:

          Lost in Space
          NYPD Blue
          The Shield

I'll check the database later today to see if they have arrived.

Is there a timeframe/roadmap for the arrival of more current shows on major networks? Or popular shows my wife watches like CSI, Desperate Housewives, etc.?

I have no specific knowledge on that matter (or a lot of other things if you ask Max ). I'd guess that such negotiations are confidential. Be sure to post your request for those 2 shows in the TV Requests sticky http://forum.vudu.com/showthread.php?t=2126 !

I'm finding it hard to believe that some of the Vudu TV episodes I've watched are only SD. I'd swear the Arrested Development pilot looks as good as any HD TV episodes I've watched. Can we get some clarification on this from a technical "in the know" person at Vudu?

                    Re: TV IS HERE?!?!

Am I the only one that thinks the $1.99 fixed price whether the show is 30 minutes or 60 minutes (OK 22/44 without commercials) is a bit ridiculous? I know that's the way Apple and Amazon are selling them too, but it doesn't mean it's right...

From a quick bit of research on Amazon.com it seems like the regular price of DVD versions of TV shows is around $.04/min, so my initial thought of $1.99 for an hour show and $.99 for a half-hour show seems about right.

I think we have a better chance of seeing a "Season Pass" discount before we'll see discounts for shorter shows.

It is silly. I was about to purchase some episodes of SchoolHouse Rock on iTunes but they are still the same price even thought they are what - 10 minutes long at best?

If they want to keep the $1.99/purchase price, they could just bundle 2 half-hour shows together per purchase .

I'd definitely LOVE to see a discount for buying a whole season!

I thought it was odd when first checking it out, too. Some of the episodes are even double (88 min) and still only the $1.99 - rated 'best deal'.

Just so I am clear the t.v. content is not yet available or am I way behind on updates? I see the listings but they are all listed as coming soon. Also just on the by an by how can a movie that is listed as Coming Soon be at the top end of the most watched list?? If this is too off topic please let me know the best place to post it. Thanks.
