when you register a 3d purchached movie why does not show as 3D in your movie list

I have purchased quite a few 3D movies but when I register them to VUDU they only show up for the 2D version.
Seems you should get both options. I think Hotel Translvania showed that way and maybe one other. My Startrek, Iron Man and quite a few others did not why?

Up to the studios. Not Vudu. Most UV streaming services don't offer 3D movies either, so kind of moot. Vudu is the exception. Sony is about only studio so I think the last Resident Evil movie and Hotel Transylvania as you mentioned are the only two I'm aware of out of the dozens of 3D Blu-Ray movie's with UltraViolet that I own.

Well I think there should be a pretty big disclaimer if the ultraviolet doesn't include the 3d version. I understand it's not up to vudu but the studios. But I purchased the 3d version, the code should give me access to it. I thought it would be a good way to watch 3d without blowing money on another new piece of equipment. I've rented 3d and netflix has a couple titles worth watching, I really thought ultraviolet would be the good way to go to get my 3d library built. I'll never purchase another 3d disc again though.

In my opinion the studios are the biggest hindrance to UV acceptance, as they all treat it like an afterthought to physical media sales. That's probably a self-fulfilling prophecy, as UV's growth is slowed by issues like this, and so they reason that UV growth is so slow that they don't worry about things like offering HD/HDX/3D codes with the same quality discs. If they paid as much attention to EST and UV, they would be growing a lot faster.

Let's not forget that most streaming services don't support 3D, especially those with UV access.

AFAIK Vudu is the only UV provider that also supports 3D -- and Vudu's 3D movies are not UV. (IIRC Sony's PS3 store is the only other 3D streaming provider, but it doesn't do UV.) UV codes are always 2D, even if they come with 3D movies. No need for a disclaimer till UV actually starts supporting 3D movies.

Netflix is also a 3D streaming provider, though as with Sony not UV.

But Netflix doesn't sell downloads; you only "rent" their library by the month (and the "rent" keeps going up). Besides, my point was UV doesn't do 3D since Vudu is the only UV retailer that offers 3D.

FINALLY - an answer that makes sense to me.

I bought and registered (so I thought) 3D versions of Guardians of the Galaxy, Tron, and John Carter; all Disney flix. VUDU only lists the 2D HDX versions. I bought 2D/3D package of Captain America The Winter Soldier, another Disney property, through VUDU and the 3D version shows up in the VUDU listing. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why this was so until I read this post. THANK YOU for clearing this mystery up.

My question abou this is why doesn't it go to the 3D version when I entered the code and VUDU HAS the move in 3D? I bought the 3D version, entered the code and ended up with the UV 2D version, not the 3D version in my library.

Here is the link to the 3D version:

Read the back of the Disc case. It will normally tell you what version you are getting. Pretty much all I have seen give only the 2D version. It is in the small print. I would have included a picture of the back and highlighted the area but I can't upload the pic...so, check this link...

The back of the Bluray usually has the info on what you will get...

Read the fine print on this link and you'll see that they clearly state that you get the 2D version of the movie on UV.
