    Problems with R.I.P.D. 3D

Did anyone else have any trouble with R.I.P.D 3D HDX?

It seems the stream was exhibiting some bad toe-in on the stereoscopy, which forced me to turn the 3D feature off at the TV level.

Note: Played on PS3. No bandwidth issues whatsoever. It just seems that the movie's 3D feature is bad (at least for the HDX version) and support, while somewhat responsive, is just jerking me around with questions revolving around my setup/connection.

There are definitely problems with this title. Unlike any other 3D title that I have watched on Vudu, there's something very wrong with this. There is almost a shutter effect going on that's extremely irritating and makes the movie uncomfortable to watch. It's a similar effect to what happens when you switch the left/right 3D images to right/left. The op is not the only one experiencing this. The problem is not display related since every other Vudu 3D title I have seen plays just fine. Please request a replacement for the master file you have for this movie. I have opened up a case with Vudu. My case number is # 150127-000755

Thank you for taking the time to have them look into this. I updated my case to let you know that I also have all of the following 3D movies and there are no problems with any of them:

300: Rise of an Empire 3D
          The Amazing Spider-Man 3D
          Dredd 3D
          Gamer 3D
          Hotel Transylvania 3D
          I, Frankenstein 3D
          Pirate Fairy 3D
          Priest 3D
          Resident Evil: Retribution 3D
          Tad: The Lost Explorer 3D

Just thought it was important to document that these all play perfectly. RIPD, however, does not.

I just wanted to keep everyone informed. Vudu is aware of the problem with the R.I.P.D 3D encode and they have put in a request with their content department to fix it. They said it may take a while for it to be fixed, but it eventually it will be re-encoded and fixed.

Well, it's been a year and a half since the quoted post was written and, having rented R.I.P.D. tonight, I can say that the 3D problem HAS NOT been fixed. I couldn't get past 5 minutes before I had to stop watching. I emailed support the following:

"This evening I rented R.I.P.D. 3D and there is something terribly wrong with the 3D. It's so bad, the movie is unwatchable. I couldn't make it past 5 minutes. To make sure it wasn't a problem on my end, I tested the 3D titles I own on Vudu as well as some 2 minute 3D previews, and they all played well. I've also rented several 3D movies on Vudu without ever experiencing this problem. Please refund. Thank you."

We'll see what kind of response I'll get. I'm not surprised Vudu hasn't addressed the problem. I own the HDX Amadeus Director's Cut. I discovered it has terrible audio problems, with the dialogue on the right channel and everything else on the left. I informed Vudu of this in January 2014. They acknowledged the problem and said they would replace it with a correct file. As of 7/21/15, the audio problem is still there.

Which bug, R.I.P.D. or Amadeus? How 'bout both?
