I have a several years old LG 55? lcd tv that is 3D computable ( not 4K) but has terible audio due to small speakers. I use a external A/V amp and either a Roku or tivo Romeo as a streaming player.
I?m wanting to stream Vudu 3D content. The Vudu 3D toy story preview plays perfect streaming in 3D via my roku or tivo thru my old Sony A/V audio amp.
However, when I try to purchase and stream a 3D movie from Vudu I get a message that these devices aren?t 3D compatible?
So I?m thinking my work around would to buy a 3D Vudu compatable Blu-ray player with Vudu streaming installed.
The LG BP530 seems to be reasonable as new or used but I can?t get a confirmation that it?s on the Vudu acceptable 3D list?
LG is listed but not model #?s?
Can this be verified and posted as a reply, or model #?s that are? I see others have requested a list.

Finally, since my A/V amp does pass thru from Roku or the tivo, the toy story 3D preview , can I assume the 3D from a Vudu 3D compatable player/streamer will also pass the 3D to my lg tv?
I will want the full audio experience of my external surround speakers from my A/V amp.
          Thank you

Im so disappointed that 3D has been eliminated as a viewing choice.
I?m greatful that Vudu has chosen to offer 3D content.

im gonna need to update this list!! it has been just a bit!

I wanted to share with you a workaround for devices that support 3D (like TVs or Projectors like mine, i have a LG pf1000u) but not from the vudu app they have installed.

Apparently phones, ios or droids, even though they dont support 3D they will play the side by side video from your 3D movie on your phone screen.
By using the cast feature i was able to watch my 3D movies so far without too many problems.

                    Hope this help !

Another workaround that might be a bit easier/better if you using NVIDIA SHIELD TV (not sure if it works with other Android TV devices) is:

open the Vudu app on your phone, start playing a 3d movie for a second and pause it, than go into your Nvidia shield TV Vudu app, select my watchlist and click resume or start over from there it will let you play the side by side video, your tv / projector wil do the rest on 3D mode

Does anyone have an update on what devices will now stream Vudu in 3D? Roku 4k and the XBOX 1 App do not. Thanks in advance!

The Apple TV will display 3D content in side-by-side format. If you are able to use Airplay, 3D content can play through that also. I have heard some projectors cannot display side-by-side 3D which seems like a glaring omission, but if you have an Oppo 4K disc player with an HDMI input, you can run your streaming device through that.

I'm also grateful for Vudu continuing to support 3D, even with all of the other backwards steps it has taken lately. I am a huge 3D fan and am simply disgusted that quality 3D at home became a reality only for the industry to give up on it so fast.
