Vudu Forum Guidelines

The Vudu Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Vudu experience. Here, Vudu customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Vudu and Vudu -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc). Although the primary purpose of these forums is to help Vudu customers with questions and/or problems with their Vudu service, there are also off-topic areas available within the Vudu Forums for users to chat with like-minded people, subject to the limitations below.

Please post all comments in English. When posting a comment in the Vudu Forums, please conduct yourself in a respectful and civil manner. While we respect that you may feel strongly about an issue, please leave room for discussion.

Vudu reserves the right to refrain from posting and/or to remove user comments, including comments that contain any of the following:

    Blue Screen

    I've had a VUDU since they first came out and life has been sweet. Today I decided to do some serious cleaning in my A/V cabinet (after shutting power off to everything). Everything works now except VUDU. My HD's screen is blue. I route the HDMI through a switch so I tried a direct connect after a power reset. My Dish 722 also routes HDMI through the same switch and works fine. It's been so long since I've been concerned about any technical issues that I've wondered if there's some simple/stupid thing I've overlooked (it wouldn't be the first time). Thanks for any help.

    Yes, both lights are green.

    Well, I would try three things next, in no particular order.

    Try to see if it's a handshake issue: power both off, then turn on one, count to 15 or so, then power on the other, then if that doesn't work, repeat in the reverse order.

    Also, check if it's the cables. Swap the cables between a currently good device and the Vudu.

    And try connecting the Vudu directly to the TV, to rule out a fussy/glitchy switch. Sure, it was fine before, but things do go wrong, obviously.

    You probably thought of some or all of this, but I figured it couldn't hurt to go over the basics.

      Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, I did try those things and although I never determined what the exact cause was, it apparently did have to do with the handshake. I got past the blue screen and to the VUDU logo screen, where it would stay for a few minutes, flash a couple times, show a message telling me my HDMI connection wasn't HDMP compliant, and then revert to the blue screen. Multiple swaps and power offs eventually got it "fixed" and I'm back to the original configuration with the original cables. Whether there's a bent or flakey pin or it was just one of those strange and mysterious things that happens with computers, I don't know. I'll replace with new cables if it happens again.
