    Samsung BD-C6900 Audio Sync Issues

    Hello All,

I am posting here to hopfully resolve an issue that I am having with the VUDU application with my Samsung BD-C6900 blu-ray player.

The issue that I am having is no matter what title and at what quality I am getting audio lag of about 1 to 2 seconds behind the video. I have done extensive testing and can't solve the issue. I have been on the phone and live chat support with Samsung multiple times and they insist that the player is not the issue but something with VUDU itself.

I currently have the blu-ray player hooked to my receiver through hdmi. I then have hdmi from my receiver to my tv. All dvd and blu-ray playback is fine as well as all the other streaming services (CinemaNow, Netflix, BlockBuster, Hulu Plus, and YouTube) with the blu-ray player. Also, all my other devices that I have hooked up have no issues either. So it is just the VUDU application that I having the audio sync issues with.

The thing that seems wierd to me is that I have no issues with the audio on my ps3 and using the Boxee application on my pc. So this makes me think that it is something wrong with my blu-ray player even though Samsung is claiming that it isn't.

Now, I have tried power cycling my router, reseting my blu-ray player and everything else you can think of but nothing has solved the issue. Samsung even did an update to their application store yesterday but that didn't work either. I am still inside my exchange policy so I might try that to see if it fixing the issue.

Here is my complete system for reference:

    TV: 56" Samsung HL-T5687S
    Receiver: Denon AVR-890
    Speakers: Klipsch VC-25 (Center)
    Speakers: Klipsch VF-36 (Front)
    Speakers: Klipsch VS-14 (Surround)
    Speakers: Klipsch SUB-12 (Subwoofer)
    Console: 60gb PlayStation 3
    Console: 250gb Xbox 360
    Console: OnLive Micro-Console
    Blu-Ray Player: Samsung BD-C6900
    DVR Cable Box: Motororla DCH-6416
Power Conditioner: Monster MP HDP 2500

Everything in my system is hooked up with hdmi except for my cable box which is component/optical (all hdmi ports on reciever are in use).

Here also is in the info from my VUDU application:

    Device ID: 0x134050
    VUDU Version: 3.0.0(51262)
    Hardware ID: SAMBBA01002399510E60
    Widget Verison: 1.114
    Server Version: 52607

My blu-ray player also has the latest firmware update (BSP-C6900WWB-1018.1).

Please let me know what I can do to get this issue solved. I am also sorry that is post is so long. I just wanted to give as much info as I could regarding the issue. Thank you all for your time!

Are you experiencing the same kind of lag with your PS3 running VUDU ?

Re: Samsung BD-C6900 Audio Sync Issues

No, I am not having any issues with streaming VUDU to my ps3 or the boxee application on my computer. I have even purchased a Samung BD-C6500 blu-ray player for my mom to use on the living room tv and it doesn't have any issues with VUDU and it is connected though wireless g. This even makes me more confused about the issue. It makes me think it is just something wrong with my setup but I have gone through and messed with setup options on my blu-ray and receiver but nothing does it. I have no other issues with my system either, just the VUDU application on the blu-ray player. Hopefully a VUDU engineer or someone can help me out. If anyone has any info for me please let me know. Thanks for your time!

I did more testing today and still can't figure out the issue. I am also still waiting on a product specialist from Samsung to contact me to help me with the issue. I have tried everything that I can think of at this point. Just wanted to post back with a little update. Please let me know if anyone has any info for me!

Re: Samsung BD-C6900 Audio Sync Issues

I may have found a fix to my issue. After a little more digging and getting the settings right it seems that if I set the audio in the blu-ray menu to PCM there is no audio lag when using VUDU. If I set it to bitstream (re-encode) or bitstream (audiophile) I get the audio lag. I usually keep the setting at birstream (audiophile) so that my reciever will do Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio with blu-ray playback.

Now the question is, is this the blu-ray players fault or something to do with the VUDU application? Since playback on everything else works fine (dvd, blu-ray, and all other streaming applications) I am assuming that it has something to do with the programming in the VUDU application itself but I could be wrong. Maybe an engineeer from VUDU can respond and give me a little more insight on the issue. I will contact Samsung and let them know my findings regarding this.

The problem is solved. Spent a lot of time on the phone with VUDU, Samsung, and Denon and what solved the issue is once I start a movie, if I pause it the audio syncs up. As stupid as that sounds I know, it solves the audio delay every time. Thanks for your help!
