    Samsung BD-C6900 audio problem

I just got a Samsung BD-C6900 Blu-Ray player and I am having a problem with audio on Vudu movies. When playing movies with surround sound the right front and center channels are swapped. When playing movies in stereo I only get sound out of the left speaker.

I have the Blu-Ray player hooked up to my receiver with an optical audio cable. When playing Blu-Ray and DVD movies it works fine and there is no problem with the audio. It is just the Vudu app that has this problem.

I will check on Monday but I seem to remember that you can change the audio setting in the VUDU App. There are 2 ways to do this: in the VUDU settings menu and also when you press the tools button on the remote while you watch the VUDU movie. Something like that.

Let me know if this helped.

Hm, I think this is only true for a Samsung TV. For Blue-Ray you need to check the audio settings in the Samsung settings menu

Yeah pressing the Tools button does not do anything when using Vudu on the Blu-Ray player. The Info and Settings section within the Vudu app does not have any audio or video settings so I guess it does go off of whatever you have set in the Samsung player settings menu. Unless there is some other menu I don't know about.

I have tried every combination of audio settings in the player settings menu and nothing seems to help. Keep in mind however that my Blu-Ray discs audio works just fine with sound coming out of all the proper channels so my settings in the Samsung player audio settings must be correct.

I understand that your blue-ray works fine, but we are using DD+ which might not be handled correctly with your settings. In any case please note that we are not decoding the audio. Samsungs drivers are doing that.

So what are your audio settings for optical?
Can you try audio from HDMI?

            Re: Samsung BD-C6900 audio problem

Here are how my settings are currently configured in the Samsung menu:

            Digital Output: Bitstream (Re-encode)
            PCM Downsampling: Off
            Dynamic Range Control: Off
            Downmixing mode: Surround Compatible
            DTS Neo6: Off

I've tried all 3 available settings for Digital Output. Bitstream (Re-encode) and Bitstream (Audiophile) sound the same (center and right front ch swapped) and PCM works as it should providing a stereo signal over the optical out.

I do not have an HDMI capable receiver so i have no way to test surround audio over HDMI. I'll probably break down and buy a new receiver soon anyway. The one I have now is 4 1/2 years old. It's a Yamaha RX-V659 and it works great but of course it doesn't support DD+, DTS-HD etc.

              Re: Samsung BD-C6900 audio problem

We will investigate with Samsung. It looks like you tried everything.
The blue-ray player is supposed to do the DD+ to DD conversion. So your setup is supposed to work.

              I have 2 more requests:
              1. Can you please provide the current firmware version of your player?
              2. Can you please check if there is a firmware update available.

The player has a software update option somewhere in its settings menu.

              Thanks,
              Volker

One more thing: which movie did you use for testing? Did you always use the same one?

I have the latest firmware available according to the player. The version number is: BSP-C6900WWB-1019.0.

                  The movies I tried are:
                  The Social Network
                  Salt
                  Machete

We can reproduce your issue and are working with Samsung on a solution.
I have no dates for a fix yet. Will keep you posted.

                    Thanks for reporting the issue.

I am so thankful I found this thread. I am having the exact same problem and couldn't figure out what the problem was. I have a Denon pre-HDMI receiver with optical inputs and the center and left channels are most definitely swapped. I am very impressed with the level of support I am seeing from Vudu and for resolving to correct the problem with Samsung.

                        Re: Samsung BD-C6900 audio problem

I don't mean to ride someone else's problem but I, too, have an audio problem with my Samsung BD-C6900, that I just noticed yesterday.

There is a terrible audio sync problem with several movies but not all. For example, the new releases "Due Date" and "Waiting for Superman" are unwatchable due to the audio sync issues.

I just "joined" the Vudu service on February 11, and I haven't yet watched a full movie. Most movies appear to be in sync (as much as I can watch in preview mode and in trailers) but, now that I am looking for it, there are several trailers and previews that are clearly problematic. I don't know if this is something that just started in the last day or two, but I'm uneasy about renting a movie that might turn out to be unwatchable.

My settings on my Blu-Ray player are as the other owner's, but I'm using HDMI for audio and video into my receiver, which shows DD+ as the audio format. I have none of the problems he described with the wrong sound coming out of the speakers. It appears that the sound is arriving at my receiver properly, just out of sync. The Vudu software version appears to be 3.0, and I am current with the latest Samsung firmware.

Is this a "glitch" that will just go away by itself, or something more? I'm certain that I didn't notice this problem before "Due Date," and the problem is across all formats of the movie (HDX, HD and SD). The problem was NOT present during the HDX preview for "Secretariat." So, I'm kind of stumped!

The service looks fantastic! I just want some confidence that I can use it.

We will try to reproduce the issue and if we can we will report it to Samsung.

What is your Samsung firmware version number?

                            Re: Samsung BD-C6900 audio problem

                            Firmware version BSP-C6900WWB-1019.0.

The audio sync problem still exists as of today (03/06) but I have been told that the problem may be less with Samsung and more with my Internet Service Provider, ATT Uverse. Since ATT Uverse requires use of its own proprietary routers, it isn't possible to change the DNS entries to get a better routing of packets.

Essentially, the audio sync problem is so consistent that VUDU is unusable in my situation.

                              Hi TCisterian,

we cannot reproduce your audio/video sync problems in our test lab.
How far are audio and video out of sync in your case? Milliseconds? Seconds?

                              Thanks,
