Source Code (HDX) missing 5.1 sound

Just (re)started using my VUDU box. Downloaded Source Code and could only get 2.0. All my settings are correct and I even have a downloaded "movie" called the HDX Experience and it worked in 5.1.

I absolutely 100% refuse to watch it without the audio experience. What am I doing wrong or was it miss-encoded?

Source code is not listed as 5.1 so it is stereo.
5.1 titles are listed as 5.1 otherwise it's stereo.

Check the "More Info" tab for the movie. That will list each format, the resolution of each format, whether it's DD or DD+, and for 5.1 audio it will say that too.

I noticed this a few days ago and was surprised an HD new release would be in stereo. I asked our content team to look into it.

Same problem/complaint here. The Mechanic was perfect. Source Code in STEREO? With all the explosions, etc.,? Really should be DD+

I just clicked the 'More Info" tab and it doesn't say how many channels it is. I have sent an email 2 days ago to VUDU requesting a refund (since I will have to buy the BD to fully experience the movie) but have not heard back.

I'll file a bug for the website - the TV UI does show the channels as well.

......so how does this help me My 2 questions are: 1) How do you tell if it's 5.1 when it just says Dolby Digital Plus (that can be 1.0 to 5.1 (7.1))? 2) And MOST IMPORTANTLY how do I get a refund for an un-viewed movie?

I posted about this same issue and now my posts are gone? Wonder why that is?

I also contacted support directly. They told me The Source Code is only recorded in stereo. And that is not the case. A new movie being released in only stereo makes no sense and is not the case. I've checked. The movie has full spectrum of audio on it.

VUDU can only encode what the studios give them . If it's stereo then that is what they encode, if it's 5.1 then they encode 5.1. At least that is how it has been in the past. the studio gives them the master and the studio makes the decision what is on the master.

There have been other new titles in the past with only stereo.

I'll try to answer the last 4 questions at once...

Apparently the website is showing "Dolby Digital 5.1" for 5.1, and "Dolby Digital" for stereo - it will be fixed to say "Dolby Digital Stereo" in the latter case (as the TV UI currently shows).

If you contact customer care and explain the problem they should give you a credit back.

Don't know why your posts would disappear, we appreciate feedback good or bad, and don't censor complaints.

As for Source Code being stereo, see my previous comment - I reported this to our content team last week, and they are looking into it. Most likely that's what we received from the studio (it's probably Dolby ProLogic - note that "stereo" is really "2 channel digital" and usually ProLogic Surround not actual stereo). That's unusual for an HD new release, which is why I noticed and reported it, and hopefully we can get a 5.1 source from them instead (we eat our own dog food, and I'd prefer to watch it in 5.1 as well

I did and have heard nothing back. I sent an email on 7/13 to support@vudu.com. Is that the wrong address?

How's that for Service? Vudu does seem to be very attentive to customer issues. Which is a big plus.

Well I very much appreciate Dan taking care of it for me but.....I sent an email to customer service and never received a reply. Having to start a thread in a forum and have a moderator intervene dosen't equal "...attentive to customer issues..." for VUDU the company in my book.
