    Video then audio freeze

I just tried renting my first HD movie. "into the wild" I waited for it to come on but it started with a black screen and a few seconds of audio which sounded like the starting titles.

I went into back into the main menus to wait for it to download more. The status of the movie was "Ready to Watch". I also checked my download connection and it was giving me the OK for ready to play HD.

I went back in to see that almost 11% had been downloaded. So I hit play, same thing happened. I fast forwarded and same thing. Video freeze, few seconds of audio.

Looks like people want to know equipment for troubleshoot reasons.

    Equip:
    Sony VPLVW50
    Marantz 7001

Internet = Comcast cable *just did TEST me on the vudu site and it rated 5,472 kbps

    System ID 0x57b7
    Software version 1.4.0 (rev 22450)

Welcome to the Vudu Forum! Gread job listing your details, that will get the engineers on top of this quickly.

    A few thoughts:

    1) Reboot the Vudu (pull the power plug) and see if it works.

    2) You said "I just tried renting my first HD movie", does this mean you already have been renting SD movies without a problem?

Don't forget to call customer support and ask them for a credit if your viewing window gets cut short.

Ed's got good advice. This HD lockup problem is a well known issue that Vudu is trying to fix. The workaround for now is to simply unplug the box and plug it back in. The movie should play fine then. This problem happens very rarely and is hard to duplicate which is why it's hard to track down.

        Re: Video then audio freeze

Is the lockup only an issue with streaming video or to owned movies as well?
I am a newbie and have had some similar issues.
First night I watched Evita no problems at all.
Last night I tried watching both of the Bourne movies that came with the box and had issues with both:
frozen video but audio keeps on going
audio and video out of sync with each other
I have the VUDU set for 1080p/24.
My tv is a Mitsubishi 65833, 1080/24 compliant
        Audio is analog/stereo
        Video is via HDMI

        VUDU Info.
        ID 0X5443
        SW 1.4.0
        Board rev 1.2
        S/N 05073330B34

I am going to try rebooting the VUDU box right after I post this message.

GREAT NEWS!!!! re-booting seems to fix everything. I watched 10-15 min of both Bourne movies and no problems at all.
          Have to try streaming tonight..

            Re: Video then audio freeze

As mentioned earlier in this thread the issue is very rare and recovers after a reboot. Our next version (1.5) is supposed to have this fixed.

            Thanks,
            Volker
