    Vudu going IN & Out

Just bought the VUDU and going through the set-up process the screen would come on for 4-5 seconds and then turn off. After all of its download and installation it was fixed... I went to resolution and changed it to 1080p/24 and it started back up again... I have a Panasonic Blu-Ray and HDMI with 1080p runs fine, is their any suggestions around this? THANKS!

Re: Vudu going IN & Out

I went to the Samsung website and based on the users manual specifications on page 93 it looks like that monitor runs 1080p at 60hz, so it isn't able to display the 24fps version of 1080p. For all intents and purposes 1080i/30 and 1080p/60 are visually identical (no loss of resolution).

Can you tell what fps your Blu-Ray player is set to output?

That's a 46" diagonal screen, so any viewing further than 5' 3" from the screen (137% of the diagnonal) makes it impossible for your eyes to see the difference between 720p and 1080i/p images.

You can learn about the limitations of our vision in the article at http://www.wired.com/gadgets/display...rning_question

Bottom line, watch a high action clip on your Vudu in both settings (720p and 1080i) and go with the one that looks better to you. If you can't see any difference, I'd stick with what your Vudu is telling you the TV wants (the Vudu preferred choice is based upon what your TV told the Vudu).
