Flashing before cuts on certain UHD HDR content (Vizio P65-E1 Smartcast app)

It's really great that a bunch of the HDR / Dolby Vision stuff is working again.

Sadly, I've noticed an issue with Vudu/DV content recently. This happens on multiple films (seen on The Dark Knight and Bladerunner) and doesn't seem to happen on SDR content. Only HDR seems to be affected and it doesn't seem to happen all the time.

      There's a pre-flash. Like a flash just before a cut/shot change. It's sometimes one flash, sometimes multiple.

Here are a couple of examples from The Dark Knight:

I don't know if this a Vudu issue or an issue with display.

So far it's only Vudu content and seemingly only HDR-based content (in this case Dolby Vision) via the Smartcast Vudu app. I'm keeping an eye out for it on other sources like Netflix but have yet to see it.

Not all Vudu HDR content seems to exhibit the "pre-flashing" and it doesn't seem to happen all the time.

In TDK it's almost like something in that scene (starts at around the 54 minute mark) triggers the issue and it appears to then persist. If I jump forward to a subsequent chapter the problem seems to go away.

      Thanks!

(this is posted in the Vizio support subreddit as well https://redd.it/8brl06)

I've discovered I can get this to happen at around the 54 minute mark in The Dark Knight (jewel thief scene) without fail.

I've tried power cycling, factory resets, changing various settings, etc and nothing helps.

I've seen this on The Dark Knight, Inception, and Blade Runner (1982). Others are reporting it with other films as well: https://redd.it/8c101l.

It's nice that HDR has been fixed on these displays but this bug is making them almost unwatchable.
