Audio was out of sync with video

I rented out The Hobbit The Battle Of The Five Armies. I noticed through the entire film that there was a delay in the audio. I started it a second time and noticed the same thing.

I was using the Vudu app in my Smart TV (LG 55UB8500). TV has a wired connection to the router. Is there something I can do to eliminate the delay? It will affect my decisions to rent from VUDU. Normally I rent from iTunes via AppleTV.

    Thanks.

I watched this movie last night from a PS4 and it was in sync; and we haven't had any other reports of A/V sync on this very popular title...

Are you playing audio from the TV speakers or out to a receiver? It shouldn't be due to any networking/router - must be an issue with the TV/software/output?

I am having the same issue with Avatar. It is the only title we are having this issue. We are using Apple TV.

I am having this same problem with the following titles, and it happens EVERY time I watch them:
        Predators (2010)
Robin Hood (Unrated) (The Ridley Scott version) - 2010

In both, the audio is out of sync (ahead) of the video by about 3 seconds from the very beginning of the movie.

I notice that on both of these I own the SD version and I am using an AppleTV 4K.

I tried Robin Hood Unrated on Chrome and Safari SD and HDX and they are in sync in all cases, so from what I can tell it's not a content issue. I'll ask our QA to try Apple TV.

Do you know which audio version your ATV may be using? (DD+/DD/stereo)

And - could you try the same version(s) you were watching on the ATV on a PC browser or mobile app to see if you see the problem there? (just to make sure I was watching the same one)

I know this is an old thread but I?ve noticed this with several titles over the years. But what I?m watching now is intolerably out of sync. I?m watching Hamlet (1996) and have been watching it when I have a little time to watch something, which means that I?ve been watching the 2.5 hours of this 4 hour movie over the period of about three weeks and on roughly 8 sessions. The audio is roughly15 to 20 seconds ahead of the video and captions. I haven?t tried watching it on another device. I?m watching it through my Roku Ultra. I have had this problem with other films on previous Roku devices as well. But I cannot say with certainty that it has anything to do with Roku.

This is also the case with ?Evening Star.? It seems to be prevalent in films from the mid 90?s but I?ll keep reporting here as I test that theory...

I have discovered that, when a title starts out of sync as I?ve described earlier, I can back up several frame blocks back in the app, reload it and it?ll eventually sync correctly. Sometimes I have to do this several times before it finally loads correctly. This has not been a issue on any of my other Roku devices, only my Roku Ultra. Not sure if it?s the device (no other app, Netflix, Hulu, Pluto TV, Disney +, etc. has this issue on the device) or the app for the Roku Ultra. But I suspect it is the app?s compatibility with the Roku Ultra and it needs a big fix applied. I hope someone from Vudu is reading this and taking notes.

In addition, sometimes I have to got forward a few frame blocks to get it to actually sync. I do this after several times of going back, reloading and the audio fails to sync. I?ve also noticed that the title will be playing after I back up and jump ten seconds, leaving the audio behind. Other times, I?ll watch the video take off, playing in fast forward until it gets that far out of sync with the audio. I know this is a lot to take in. But I really feel like it?s a compatibility issue with the app and the Roku Ultra. I feel like I?ve done everything short of buying another Roku Ultra to test my hypothesis. At this juncture I?m just wondering if anyone from Vudu is reading this and has any feedback.

                      Hi Billbo,

My apologies for not reaching out sooner. Do you have a support ticket open for this matter as of yet?

I'll see if I'm able to reproduce this issue in the office.

                      Could you provide the following:
                      • Audio settings on the ROKU
                      • What is your setup AVR? TV? (Model number for each)
                      • What quality of the movie is being played?
                      • Exact model number of the Ultra

When I watch a movie, its fine. However when I watch a TV show, namely Battlestar Galactica or The Big Bang Theory (Which i just purchased for $100.00) its at last 2 to 3 seconds delayed. What's up with this?????

We just bought Big Bang Theory as well. I have notice audio sync issues in the past and usually if you just use the back 15 seconds feature on the remote, that will sync it up. But with BBT every single episode starts out about 2 seconds out of sync, even when you are binge watching and it starts a new episode at the end of the previous episode. And the back 15 seconds trick doesn’t work, I have to fast forward A couple minutes then rewind again, but if you rewind all the way to the start it won’t work. I usually have to go forward and back several times to get the audio in sync. This is unacceptable after spending $100 to be able to watch the whole series, it is impossible to watch with the 2 second delay.
I certainly hope they figure out how to fix this and release an update or something soon.
