    Re: Resolution of Component Connection

Plus, using that logic, the RCA audio output is supported but doesn't output anything and the 480i video resolution is supported, but not by any of the video connections. I wonder how they do that?

      Re: Resolution of Component Connection

Guys, read the attached article. I can tell you this since it's public:

      http://www.cepro.com/article/vudu_pl..._recovery/K316

I think it answers some of the HD over component questions.

To clarify the CEPro article: While we will have HD output for the component video outputs, though I believe it will be limited to 1080i due to hardware limitations.

Is Component Video even capable of 1080p? I didn't think that it was an industry restriction but simply a limitation of the hardware.

Interestingly, a quick Google search on this topic pulled up an article on RC Forums that expressly references VUDU's claim to do HD over component -- http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin...cgi?16421,last

(oh, and the answer is apparently that yes, component can do 1080p but it's being actively discouraged).

OK. I was actually more interested in the guy's comment on the HD Fury and how you'd be better off with 1080i or 720p....

Component is able to support 1080p....there is just no "standard" yet for 1080p over component. Many of the high end projectors still only have component inputs and claim 1080p.

I have been reading quite a bit on this and a lot of professional installers do not use HDMI due to its limited ability to be used in video distribution systems. Go into Best Buy, Costco, Sam's Club and look how the large panel displays are setup. They are all using component because is can be easily split/boosted etc.

I have even seen balens used to take the component signal....convert it to cat5 and then back again. This is used for really long runs. Our church has this type of cabling for their large projectors that are hung from a 3 story ceiling.

Good point. It does seem like I've seen some HDMI distribution systems but I think they are a lot more pricey...

Hey Ron, b-a-l-u-n-s combination of balanced - unbalanced.

Let's see there's probably two churches in the Hoffman Estates area that could afford large projectors hung from a 3 story ceiling. One is protestant the other catholic. I go to the protestant one. Which do you go to?

                      Re: Resolution of Component Connection

While I understand the issue the movie companies had with DRM... I am amazed at how useless DRM ends up being... Look at itunes where all you need to do is write a CD and the DRM is gone or do a google and you find endless software that will do it. As well you can remove the DRM using apple products like garage band.

So my question has to do with the dongle someone mentioned that converts HDMI to Componet 1080. Does this thing remove the DRM? I would think it does becuase my understanding is that DRM is not supported over Component.

                      Chris

I do not believe this was clear in any aspect of your marketing material. If so, I am unable to rent/view HD output through the device, greatly reducing it's usability.
I have trouble with the licensing concept - I can get HD output through component on my Xbox as well as my satellite receiver.

                        What gives?

Can I get my $$$$ back?
You are right you cannot get it and their marketing MATERIAL IS MISLEADING! You would think that being a startup they would rather not sell you something than sell you something and **** you off because it doesn't work... Well they mad the wrong decision in those meetings.

I did notice on this forum a link for a device (dongle sort of thing) that converts HDMI to Compoent 1080P. I ahve never tested it but I would think it works and therefore we all dont need to buy new recievers just to use our vudu box.
