Sound issues with some UHD movies

Hey all this is my first post and am new to forums. Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. So my question or issue is..... I am having terrible audio differences on VUDU that I just found out about. I don?t have an A/V receiver surround sound system or anything. Just a JBL BAR 3.1 soundbar hooked up using optical cable to my Sony Bravia XBR65X800G TV. I?ve tried multiple Soundbars and it DOES happen on them all. This sound issue also happens when hooked up via HDMI ARC. So I was watching Wonder Woman UHD, bumped it down to HDX and holy smokes the sound quality on HDX is soooo much better and louder than on UHD!
I?m not sure if it does this on all movies. Movies such as jumanji, bad boys, the marvel movies etc... I can?t really tell the difference between UHD and HDX much. I?m not a super audiophile but this is super weird. I did get ahold of VUDU over the phone and all they said was pretty much that this issue was because the Sony XBR65X800G wasn?t on their TV list. There were only like 2 Sony?s on there.

First I figured ?ok must be weird soundbar?, but that?s not the case I don?t think..... Has anyone else had this problem and have a fix? I was using a roku ultra 2018 (thought maybe that was the problem) but it does the same thing through the VUDU built in to my android tv app :\

I love VUDU been using it for years but this stinks. HDX much clearer sound. I can actually hear the dialogue without cranking it in my apartment only to get blasted by an explosion or something shaking my entire place.

Any help would be much appreciated thanks in advance!
Hope everyone has a great day, and stay safe

Are you saying the Roku Ultra has similar audio quality issues with UHD? (if so that would imply it's the sounder - if not, then probably there TV).

It sounds to me like something may have an issue with the Atmos audio that is on many UHD titles - maybe incorrectly decoding the multiple channels, etc so you don't get center channel on the soundbar, something like that. Atmos is supposed to be backwards compatible with DD+, but it's possible there is a bug in one (or a combination when connected together) of the devices handling of it. I forwarded this post to some others to take a look and see if they can find anything. They may reach out to you via PM for more info.

I am having a similar issue. I have a TCL Roku TV hooked through ARC to my Onkyo TX NR686 receiver. When I first had this all set up months ago I could stream anything with no issues. Recently purchased the Rise of Skywalker and couple other UHD films and now I have issues. The sound will cut out within like 3 min of watching the movie and then it will come back. I can stream UHD movies on other services like Disney Plus but with Vudu it appears I am having issues but it's only when watching the sound with my receiver. I can watch the same movie in other rooms and works fine. Not sure what changed but do wonder if folks are having similar issues with sound on UHD movies. Really don't want to sample down to HDX when you paid the money to get that higher quality.

I also started having audio issues with UHD movies, happens right in the beginning of the movies, the audio goes out but the picture is fine ? and these are movies I purchased some time ago and used to work without issue !
Something must have changed on the Vudu side of things .I own lots of movies many in UHD , and can no longer play them in UHD. I have a decent
enough internet service {200 down and 35 up} and it's stable.my surround processor is a marantz AV 7705 , my TV is a Vizio M50 , everything with the latest updates. up until a month and a half ago, I didn't have this audio issue.

        what changed ?
