Recommendations for reasonable (cheap) 2x1 or 3x1 HDMI/Toslink switch?

I've run out of HDMI inputs on my receiver so I ran out and bought a Belkin Pure A/V 3x1 switch and a manual toslink to toggle between my dvd player and the vudu box.

It works fine but then it dawned on me that I can't automate the the switch-over on my harmony remote.... Any recommendations for a low/medium priced combined hdmi/toslink switch that uses an IR controller? I browsed around but have no idea what to look for and they seem fairly expensive. Also, is HDMI 1.3 a must?

I looked for these a while back and I think all you're going to find is that they are ALL fairly expensive.

You can get some fairl inexpensive component switchers but as soon as you throw in HDMI they start getting expense and probably for no good reason.

I just ended up buying a new receiver!

    Sorry...

I used one from Joytech that cost me $30 at Buy.Com (it's now $40)L http://www.buy.com/prod/joytech-tri-...204972580.html. It works pretty well with the Vudu but there are some glitches occasionally if the switch gets unpowered, then there can be some HDCP resolution glitches.

The switch has IR control that can be configured with the Harmony. It can also be powered via USB - guess what - your Vudu has 2 USB ports!

It will work 95% of the time just fine. If you have any issues with it, let me know and we can have Vudu pull your box logs and continue to work on the code with the switch.

It's HDMI only - no Toslink...

For $40 you can hardly beat it...

My switch works well, and have added it to my Harmony remote (love that thing). Except I have to switch the sound by hand. I guess that beats spending a couple hundred bucks tho ...

Some of the prices for HDMI switches are absurd.... I saw my $70 switch on Belkin's site for $199 .. jeez ...

I like your solution Mebs ....

Unfortunately my receiver isn't very old, just has 2 HDMI inputs. Never would have thought I would have needed three ...

If your still looking, look at Key Digital or Extron. Little more expensive, but they will get the job done.

I did the same thing as Mebs! My Sony from a few years ago started giving me problem with the center channel. So I bought a Denon AV-2808CI. 3 HDMI inputs but 3 component inputs as well and everything is mux'd to an HDMI output. So all video inputs from composite on up are upconverted. It works quite well! I'm happy!

Wow...I guess people besides me are fretting over the competition for their one HDMI port...thanks for the switch info!

Does anyone on here know if future VUDU boxes might have a HDMI in for HD players/equip? That would be sweet...

I highly recommend Monoprice. I have their 5x1 switch and it has been perfect since day one. I control it with my Harmony 880 with no issues.

Mark, I just bough 5x1 switch and I have the Harmony 880. I was wondering what setting you used to control the switch with the remote?

I use the Psyclone PSC47, available from Best Buy for $199. Very good 4x1 combo HDMI 1.3 and Toslink with IR remote.

No problem. Thanks for the website to Monoprice and a great product. The switch connected very easily to the Harmony remote.
