    Renaissance: Lip Sync issues

    Hi guys,

I watched my first movie on my new VUDU last night, Renaissance, and was pretty happy with the video quality (the titles were a bit fuzzy, but the movie looked fine). However, the movie had serious lip-sync problems. I know this movie was originally in French, then re-dubbed into English, but based on the talent involved, I'd be surprised if they did that poor of a job. Though I still hope it's a content, not a hardware issue.

Later, I watched a bit of each of the free Bourne HD movies (WOW do those look good!) and there were no lip-sync issues and the 5.1 sound was great.

I forgot to write down my system id, so I'll have to add that later if it's needed.

I can't wait for more HD content, or at least SD with 5.1 sound...

    John,

The lip-sync issue are coming from the content provider. The VUDU doesn't do any of the dubbing. I would be willing to bet the DVD version of this movie would have the same type of issue.

Yea I really like the quality of the Bourne movies also. The sound was great and it really shows off what HD can do.

      John,

Another great movie to watch on the Vudu is 300. Sadly, it's not in 5.1 yet but the video looks outstanding..

Actually, I did some searching and it looks like the studio completely re-rendered the facial animations for the English release so it wouldn't look dubbed. Also, no one on Netflix has complained about lip-sync issues in 98 reviews, so it seems to be fine on the DVD. So, either the VUDU encode has issues, or my hardware is having issues on non-HD material. I'll have to watch another SD title to hopefully rule out the hardware being the problem.
