No UHD Playback Fire TV Cube Gen 3

Recently bought several Fire TV Gen 3 cubes which was released 10/25. The Vudu app on the Gen 3 cube does NOT allow UHD playback whereas the Gen 2 cube does. Many people on fire tv community forum are reporting the same issue and amazon device support have confirmed it is a technical issue with Vudu app.

Why is it taking Vudu development so long just to approve a new device and push out the updated client? This should have been done well in advance the device launch. It's making me regret buying so many movies on Vudu.

Any news on this? I am right at the end of the 30-day return window and trying to figure out what to do. I don't want to find out later that this is not fixable because they did something wrong with hardware in the 3rd gen cube.

I have the exact same issue with the Gen 3 Cube. No UHD available, only HDX. Also. some of the HDX content appears to be choppy as well. Is there an update as to when an updated app will be available for the 3rd Gen Cube?

This device is still being tested by our QA team to certify it for UHD. Once that's completed, then it will playback in UHD. Hopefully this can be completed in the coming weeks.

There are a couple of video apps not working on the Fire TV Cube Gen 3. So, I buy VUDU movies and watch them through Prime. Even MoviesAnywhere errs on DRM. Most likely due to the upgraded CPU/GPU - but a month to QA DRM in an upgraded app? Odd, but considering the other video apps aren't working and dropping down to 1080p, there's obviously more to this box. Not worth returning it though. Just plug your old Fire stick 4k in if you have one for 4k if the movies isn't showing in Prime Video
