    HD resolution?

    Hi,

I'm hoping I have missed something, but it appears that my Vudu is only sending a maximum of 720p via the HDMI connector to my 1080p capable display. I don't see an option for 1080i output. What have I overlooked?

    Re: HD resolution?

Please post the exact make/model of your display. The Vudu uses the HDMI protocol to ask your display what it supports, so it may not be getting the correct information from your monitor.

Also how are you hooked up? Are you using HDMI on the TV or a DVI to HDMI adpter?

The Vudu is currently on a Westinghouse LVM-37W1 connected to a DVI (supports HDCP) port to the Vudu with an HDMI to DVI cable from monoprice.com.

Some DVI monitors do not report their supported modes. Right now we play it safe and only allow up to 720p in that case. Our next release will also allow 1080i in that case.
To be sure that your TV falls into that category I would like to look at the logs. For this I need you client ID (number starting with 0x...).

From the specs it looks like your Westinghouse only supports 1080p/60 and not 1080p/24, so you won't be able to get1080p output from our box. But since your display has a native 1080p resolution the TV knows how to upconvert 1080i to 1080p without any loss in resolution.

Does component video on Vudu only support 480p? I just got the box last night and haven't had time to set up HDMI so I just replaced my DVDs inputs for my Vudu. Can component support HD like on other devices?

The 720P and higher settings are only on the HDMI connection. The component is limited to 480p. This is due to licensing.

My client id is 0x2B8A. I'm not sure this is helpful or not, but I have connected my Macbook and Macbook Pro to the Westinghouse and they both instantly detect the resolution, but of course I'm going DVI-DVI. This display definitely has some issues with HDCP @1080p, I noticed when I first got a Playstation 3 last year.

At least 1080i would be wonderful, even though the display scales 720p nicely.

                Thanks!

Could you please lookup the exact HDMI>DVI cable you are using on monoprice and post a link to the part number here?

Unfortunately my order history doesn't go back far enough (I order spares whenever I buy any cables from them) to see the exact part, but I think its this one:

                    http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

I just tried another HDMI-DVI cable with the same effect.
