Video stuttering on Touch of Evil

The one issue at the beginning was that I tried to use a game adapter to connect. When that failed to work, I switched to a Netgear powerline ethernet bridge. My Vudu was working perfectly until tonight. I ordered "Touch of Evil" which was jumpy the whole way through. Is there anything to do if the video is shaky? I stopped and restarted the film but it didn't help. I would like to think that there were so many Christmas Vudus that the system got strained a bit.

    Hey Cass,

Welcome aboard and Merry Christmas. I'm going to order "Touch of Evil" right now and see if it is "jumpy" on my setup. I'm guessing your experience with other movies has been good. What other movies have you watched?

Also, please post your Client ID (in Info & Settings, looks like 0x12ab), and the approximate time you were watching the movie when it was jumpy.

    Enjoy,

    Enjoy,
I just watched about 10 minutes of the movie and haven't seen anything I'd call "jumpy", except for perhaps the rolling camera shots of the convertible going through town on the way to the border, and for the time period (50+ years ago), I don't think they were as good at such shots back then. Can you post some specific times (minutes/seconds) into the show where the "jumpiness" sticks out?

P.S. What a gem! Charlton Heston in "brown face" as the Mexican official was not expected. I'm glad you brought this one to my attention, it looks like a classic that has slipped past me.

      Hey,

The video was definitely stuttering throughout the movie. I did, however, watch the whole thing. My System ID is 0x34d2. I am not sure if that is the same as the Client ID that you asked for. I have 12 hours left on my rental period, so I guess it was about 8:30 last night when I ordered the movie. I have ordered four or five other movies without a problem. Perhaps it was a Verizon Fios issue; I really don't know. Let me know if there is any other information that might be useful. The movie was really good despite the stuttering. Charlton Heston was great but so was Orson Welles.

Yeah, Client ID and System ID are synonymous.

Does it still "stutter" if you watch it again now?

          Ed,

Yes, the video is still jerky if I watch it again. Weird, huh? Let me know if you have any ideas.

Reboot the box. See what happens then. There's been an issue with some of the HD content being jittery and then fine after reboot. Seems to be some sort of memory issue. It's never been reported on SD though. So try rebooting.

We should probably move this to its own thread...

                Ed,

Rebooted. Video is still choppy on Touch of Evil. Movies I have purchased are playing fine.

I think its time to make a call to the support desk at VUDU. You have have some corrupted data in that movie, thats at least my guess. They should be able to credit you for the bad movie (bad means defect), and maybe delete the movie for you so you can download it again.

I had similar issues watching Ultimatium for the second time last night. Stutering, stopping and lip sync. I should have rebooted, didn't think. My son and wife just came for a visit, needless to say he was not impressed.

The problem with the HD films like Ultimatum are definitely known. And the next software release should address this. I thought 1.1.2 addressed it but perhaps not. It should be addressed in 1.2.

If you have problems with one of the HD Bourne films right now, please reboot the box. It's a bug and it is being fixed.
