    Roku app problem

    Hi,

I've got a Roku 4 (4400x), and am experiencing something weird with the Vudu app.

When browsing titles, the thumbnails start to black out, more and more, as if it didn't have enough memory to load them. I don't get this with other apps, just Vudu. I had thought maybe there wasn't enough storage to house the downloaded images, but the problem persists after having installed a 16GB miscro-SD card. I also removed and reinstalled the app, but that didn't help. I'm stumped.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this? I can watch a movie if I search and go directly to it, but browsing is virtually impossible.

Have you power-cycled your Roku 4 to see if the issue goes away?

This is still a problem. I get this almost weekly and it can only be resolved by doing a Roku reboot. In undoubtedly will return within a week or so. Usually when I start quickly scrolling through "My Vudu" -> Movies, where there may be thousands of titles. Once the black boxes appear, the app is virtually useless, because all new images scrolled into the screen are just black boxes. I am using a Roku 4 (4400x)

Any chance you could send me a short video of the behavior you're observing? Also, could you send me your account email address in a private message so i can take a look?

Attached are screen shots of the issue. As you will see, I just scrolled down My Movies list through about 100 movies (96-106 as seen in the picture) and the boxes begin to appear. Any further scrolling I do will just show all black boxes (as seen in the second image).

Additionally, just waiting on the screen with black boxes will never refresh to show the images. The black boxes will remain for the most part until I restart the app. In which case the issue will likely happen again if I scroll through again.

I will send you an private message with my account information.

We are having the same issue as waff8 and we were wondering if there is a way to resolve the problem. Thank you.

As of September 1, 2019, this is still an issue. I hope this is getting some kind of traction, because it's pretty frustrating. The Roku app becomes completely useless once the black boxes start appearing.

                  Hi Waff8,

My apologies for the delay. Let me do a little digging to see if we can get this on the way to getting fixed. I'll keep you posted.

Do any of you having problem have an optional SD installed in your Roku. I've got thousands of movies in my account and never seen this issue with any of my Roku's and I have most every model. But I always use an SD card, force updates, and power cycle weekly.

Yes, I use an SD card in my Roku 4 where I am seeing the problem. I added the card hoping to correct the issue, it did not improve it all. Power cycling corrects the issue (temporarily) so that may be why you are not seeing this if you power cycle once a week.

Has this issue been resolved? I still experience this issue on both of my Roku 4

I am having this issue on my Sharp Roku TV as well. It's very frustrating.

Same problem here. I have a Roku TV, no SD cards. I can carry on for a while after the titles pix start to black out, but then the title *text* and parts of the description start to black out, too.

This is still an issue on the Roku 4... any chance it will ever get fixed? I'm hard wired to the Roku and have 200/200 Fios, so it's not a network thing. Any suggestions?
