Even if VUDU did not want to create an app for renting/purchasing movies (due to Apple wanting a big cut of the in-app purchase), VUDU could just port their iOS app to the Apple TV, which essentially just allows users to view their existing VUDU libraries. (but not actually rent/purchase movies)

Another option would be to have a full-fledged app with rental/purchasing options, but increase the price to cover whatever the Apple in-app fee VUDU is charged.
As far as creating a working app to view our Vudu content goes then it really should be quite a straightforward decision. As for passing on Apple's fees to the customer, that won't work. Nice idea, don't get me wrong. BUT! Apples in-app fees are around a 30% cut, so it'd add $6 to the cost of a new release, just not worth it.

I was never quite satisfied with the performance of Vudu on my Roku. It sometimes has buffering problems, due to it's lack of memory I assume. If Vudu built an app for the AppleTV, I am sure they could fix this problem. Then I could recommend Vudu to my friends again.

I don't have an Apple TV and don't want an Apple TV, but heavens to Betsy, VUDU needs to get on the ball here. VUDU will never be a big player as long as (1) they don't create GOOD applications for the most popular platforms and (2) start some quality advertising. Those of us who have invested heavily in this service want to know our investments are protected.

                Re: Apple TV App Please!

I have the NEW Apple TV as well, plus I have purchased the older Apple TV's in years past. I wasn't very happy with the previous Apple TV generation and seemed to constantly have streaming and/or buffering issues. The new Apple TV runs fantastic and all of my previous buffering/streaming problems are now gone.

Yes, I would love to have a Vudu streaming app on my Apple TV. Yea, maybe I wouldn't be able to make purchases on Vudu via Apple TV and that would be OK. If I could just stream that would great!!! I can always make Vudu purchases/redemption on my computer, Roku, whatever. Amazon streaming would be great, as well.

If Apple wants the Apple TV to be the one streaming box to rule them all then you would think Apple wouldn't have a problem with a Vudu and a Amazon streaming app. Maybe Vudu and/or Amazon would have a problem not be able to sell movies, etc. with only a streaming app.

If would be nice to know if Vudu is even planning some type of streaming app at all for the new Apple TV. Otherwise, eventually, I might have to go out and purchase the new Roku 4.

                  Re: Apple TV App Please!

Here is a very recent article about Amazon Streaming being available on Apple TV possibly before the end of 2015.

                  http://www.macrumors.com/2015/11/28/...ideo-tvos-app/

So, maybe Vudu will not be far behind?

Another Vote for an Apple TV Vudu App.

I'd also like to see it on the FireTV, also.

I'm trying to push Vudu service to my family and friends, but it doesn't help when the app isn't easily accessible on these popular formats.

                        Re: Apple TV App Please!

Not to be that guy by I have a feeling that with iTunes occupying similar space as Vudu that the absence from Apple TV might not exactly be an oversight. I like Apple but when it comes to streaming on demand video I prefer Vudu (and UltraViolet). So count me in, I hope to see Vudu on Apple TV in the very near future.

                          Re: Apple TV App Please!

There are plenty of apps that compete with with in the music and movies area. Vudu even has them on iPhone and iPad, just not (yet) on Apple TV and you can purchase from the device (as thats a direct compete with Apple) only view on device.

The only reason I honestly don't see a Vudu app on Apple TV is that Vudu hasn't submitted one.

                          Same goes for Android TV.

I got an apple tv for Christmas and I am so invested in Ultraviolet/Vudu I really hope a streaming app makes its way to that device; otherwise I am stuck hanging on to the app built into the TV or my old Roku- I'd really like just one device

I want to see this too. I do not understand why we haven't seen an Apple TV app yet as well as an Android/FireTV app as it is likely just a simple port of their iOS/Android apps. Vudu used to be the company that was everywhere but that doesn't seem to be the case lately and it's discouraging.

I know what you mean. There's no Vudu app for FireTV. There's not one for the Sheild TV or any other Android TV. There's not one for for Windows 10, the one for the xBox one is terrible. I really hope they work on these things this year. I also am hoping for an app for AppleTV.
