Nvdia Shield TV: Problem with sign-in process

    Dear Vudu Support/Users,

currently I am not able to sign-in into my Vudu-Account on the NVidia Shield-TV. The app worked fine before I have resetted my Shield to factory-settings.
Now I can only browse the library and watch trailers and previews, but when I'm trying to sign-in I only get the message
"Invalid E-Mail/Password". On my Xbox One I have got no problem to sign-in.
Is there any known problem or solution?

    Thanks in advance,
    Bernhard

I'm having exactly the same problem.

Can someone from VUDU please respond?

        Hi,

This thread is old and the Nvidia Shield app has been completely replaced with an Android TV version - the cause of your issue isn't likely related to this. Please contact Vudu customer care to get help logging in.

I have contactcted customer care. Did everything they asked and I still can't sign-in. I have the Nvidia Shield android TV box. Customer care said they are escalating this to engineering. There is a bug in your app.

That thread is also over a year old - that app has been completely replaced since. I'm not saying there isn't an issue (that will be investigated), but it's just not related...

So far we have identified two potential causes:
              1) you are using an external keyboard - it seems this may cause issues with the username/password entry fields.
              2) you are using a VPN - some VPN services may be blocked from allowing logins to Vudu (also true if your IP address appears to be from outside the US).

If neither of those are the case, let us know.

No I'm not using a VPN. I also tried signing in with the hand-held remote that comes with the Shield TV box and that doesn't work either. I was able to sign-in the very first time I tried (right after I bought my Shield TV) - but subsequent to clearing data and doing factory reset all sign-in attempts have failed. Has anyone on your end tested signing in to the app and then clearing data from the app to see if you are able to sign back in? - And also try doing a factory reset with the Shield TV and see if you can sign back in?

Also I have about 30 different apps downloaded to my Shield TV - and I don't experience any sign-in problems with any of my other apps - only the VUDU app has the sign-in problem. Which means that the sign-in problem is not related to any internet problems on my end. Also I'm hard-wired to a modem (no router). And as I mentioned absolutely no VPN.

My sign-in problem with Nvidia Shield TV seems very similar to the sign-in problems peope are/were having on the Roku Ultra (as mentioned in the following thread):

Any update on this? And why does customer service keep emailing me like 5 or 6 times over the past several weeks saying they marked my case as "solved". What a freaking joke. From the looks of it this problem has existed for a year and a half and VUDU has never even bothered to do some testing on their end. All they can do is insist upon "user error" as the cause - and then pressure "customer service" to mark the case as "solved".

Ok, so I deactivated then reactivated my device (Nvidia Shield TV, 500 gb). I then attempted to sign in using my remote, not my keyboard. It actually worked and I was able to sign in and see my movies.

Had you been previously signed-in and then for a while you couldn't sign-in? And now you're able to sign-in again? Or is that the first time you signed-in with your Shield TV?

I had no trouble signing-in the first time I tried right after I bought my Shield TV. It's after clearing data from the app and uninstalling the app when the sign-in problem occurs. I'm still unable to sign-in (after I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it).

Can you try clearing data from the app and uninstalling the app - and then see if you can sign back in?

                      ------------------------------------------------------------------

By the way I can sign-in to the VUDU web site with a browser on my Shield TV - but not the app. I can also sign-in to all of my other apps on my Shield TV. This makes it highly unlikely that my sign-in problem to the VUDU app would be due to my internet set-up. However because I didn't have a computer to run a "tracer route" the folks at VUDU customer service emailed me and told me they were marking my case as "solved". Which it is not solved. And the issue is likely on Vudu's end.

One more idea (just guessing though) - could you go to www.vudu.com, go to the menu on the right, then "manage devices" and see how many you have? If you have 8 (some of them might be "old" installs of Shield app, too) delete some so you have less than 8 and try agai.

If you have less than 8, then this likely isn't the issue...

Hi. I went to the VUDU web site, signed-in, and then went to "manage devices". It says I have no devices activated to my account. That seems strange - why is my Shield TV not showing up in my device list? Could this be related to my sign-in issue? And how do I get my Shield TV to show up to my VUDU account?

Can you install the Vudu app on an iPhone or Android phone and log in? Then that should show up. if you can't log in to it either, there may be a problem with your account...

Unfortunately I don't have a mobile phone to test. My only internet device is my Shield TV. I take it that my Shield TV doesn't show up in my device list because I'm unable to log-in. I can sign-in to the VUDU web site (with a browser on my Shield TV) - so there's probably nothing wrong with my account.
