The Vudu Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Vudu experience. Here, Vudu customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Vudu and Vudu -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc). Although the primary purpose of these forums is to help Vudu customers with questions and/or problems with their Vudu service, there are also off-topic areas available within the Vudu Forums for users to chat with like-minded people, subject to the limitations below.

    I'm having this problem also on my Xbox One X. I only get the message on certain movies in my library though. I'm not sure when it started since I took a break from Vudu for about a month. I purchased Winchester over the weekend and started getting the error message mentioned above when I tried to play it. I went through my library and noticed that it happens on certain other moves as well (Blade Runner 2049, Justice League, Happy Death Day, Patroits Day). It might happen on more, but I haven't gone any deeper.

    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, Deregistering the Xbox One (through the app and online) and then deleting everything and downloading then registering again. Resetting the cache on the Xbox One. Playing multiple movies and then trying one that won't play. Activating multiple apps and then trying the vudu app again. Power cycling my modem and router. It keeps giving me the same error message on the same movies.

    Out of all the movies that I have problems with, I did watch Justice League earlier this year, but it won't play now. I never did get a chance to watch the rest. The PS3 app, my HDTV app and my blu-ray player app all seems to play these movies fine when I use vudu on them. The problem is only with my Xbox One X.

    I have ave the same exact issue. Xbox One X and I just downloaded the Vudu app, so it is the most recent version. I?ve been using Vudu on my Apple TV 4K without issue, but I just realized the Vudu app on Xbox One supports Dolby Atmos, so I wanted to check it out. Regardless of playing a HDX or UHD title, I get the same error:

    Sorry, the video player has stopped working. Please try again.

    I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and no help. I deregistered every device on my Vudu account and added just the Xbox One X itself.

    Please help.

    It worked temporarily, but the problem returned.
    I was able to watch 11 minutes of a movie, and then the screen went blank and the same error message returned.
    I did manage to get rid of a bunch of devices I no longer have though, thanks.

    Please check the "Manage Devices" section of your account from the website to make sure you have 8 or less devices activated to your account (including your XBOX). Device limit is 8. Let me know if that helps or not.

    Since Sunday, I have been having issues trying to watch My Movies on Xbox One. I get the message:
    "Playback Error Sorry, the video player has stopped working. Please try again."
    I tried hard resetting my xbox to clear the cache
    uninstalling the vudu app and reinstalling
    restored my xbox one to factory default settings and reconfigured everything (which had the playback work for about 1o minutes).
    I have disconnected and reconnected my ultraviolet account
    I have tried with multiple movies I own both from ultraviolet and disney movie anywhere and I continue to get the problem.
    I am not having the issue with hulu or netflix on xbox
    My vudu works fine on my roku and samsung tv, just not my xbox one
    Any other suggestions to fix this?
