    Xbox One Playback error Sorry, the video player has stopped working. Please try again

    Since Sunday, I have been having issues trying to watch My Movies on Xbox One. I get the message:
    "Playback Error Sorry, the video player has stopped working. Please try again."
    I tried hard resetting my xbox to clear the cache
    uninstalling the vudu app and reinstalling
    restored my xbox one to factory default settings and reconfigured everything (which had the playback work for about 1o minutes).
    I have disconnected and reconnected my ultraviolet account
    I have tried with multiple movies I own both from ultraviolet and disney movie anywhere and I continue to get the problem.
    I am not having the issue with hulu or netflix on xbox
    My vudu works fine on my roku and samsung tv, just not my xbox one
    Any other suggestions to fix this?

    Please check the "Manage Devices" section of your account from the website to make sure you have 8 or less devices activated to your account (including your XBOX). Device limit is 8. Let me know if that helps or not.

      It worked temporarily, but the problem returned.
      I was able to watch 11 minutes of a movie, and then the screen went blank and the same error message returned.
      I did manage to get rid of a bunch of devices I no longer have though, thanks.

        Hello,

        I have ave the same exact issue. Xbox One X and I just downloaded the Vudu app, so it is the most recent version. I?ve been using Vudu on my Apple TV 4K without issue, but I just realized the Vudu app on Xbox One supports Dolby Atmos, so I wanted to check it out. Regardless of playing a HDX or UHD title, I get the same error:

        Playback Error
        Sorry, the video player has stopped working. Please try again.

        I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and no help. I deregistered every device on my Vudu account and added just the Xbox One X itself.

        Please help.

          I'm having this problem also on my Xbox One X. I only get the message on certain movies in my library though. I'm not sure when it started since I took a break from Vudu for about a month. I purchased Winchester over the weekend and started getting the error message mentioned above when I tried to play it. I went through my library and noticed that it happens on certain other moves as well (Blade Runner 2049, Justice League, Happy Death Day, Patroits Day). It might happen on more, but I haven't gone any deeper.

          I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, Deregistering the Xbox One (through the app and online) and then deleting everything and downloading then registering again. Resetting the cache on the Xbox One. Playing multiple movies and then trying one that won't play. Activating multiple apps and then trying the vudu app again. Power cycling my modem and router. It keeps giving me the same error message on the same movies.

          Out of all the movies that I have problems with, I did watch Justice League earlier this year, but it won't play now. I never did get a chance to watch the rest. The PS3 app, my HDTV app and my blu-ray player app all seems to play these movies fine when I use vudu on them. The problem is only with my Xbox One X.

            Could you two provide me with some additional information so that we can get started trouble shooting?

            Could you send me the following in a private message:

            Xbox firmware version

            Widget version for Vudu. This should be listed in the system info menu in Vudu

            A list of content that you're experiencing this issue with.

            If the content is still listed in your watchlist, what happens when you start the movie over instead of resuming from your last timestamp.

            Could you also list the email address you used to create your Vudu account.

              Strangely, the Vudu application started working normally the next day after I posted the above message. The Xbox One app seems to play all movies without any problems now.

              When it was messed up, I couldn't even continue watching the movies that I listed even if they were put on the watchlist by using another device.

              I can still pm you with all the information you asked for if you want it for future problems with the Xbox One app.

                    Have you guys performed a hard reset on your Xboxes yet?

                    Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
                    Note Pressing the Xbox button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.

                    Select Settings.
                    Select Restart console.
                    Select Yes to confirm.

                        I get the playback error on the Xbox one app and also on the app on my LG tv. Get about 1 minute into the movie and then get the error

                          I'm also getting this error for the Insidious 4-pack movie set. Happens on Xbox One, Android Mobile, and Chromecast device. Other movies on my account will play fine. Is there a way to file for a refund of these movies if I'm not going to be able to view them?

                            Yes multiple hard hard resets here. I did a refresh as well. My Xbox registers 623MBps down. I?m getting playback errors on hdx and uhd but sd works for only the brave. But Everest works great on hdx and most other movies I test.

                            Im on Xbox one x on a Sony 4K hdr tv

                            I did just buy only the brave uhd and am not able to get that experience. Oh in case you tell my it?s my internet speed see the attached pic as proof I just tested 512 Mbps down.

                            Well forum just told me I?m not authorized to creat attachments so I guess I?m not able to show.

                              I just bought only the brave and am having same issues on hdx and uhd. But sd plays when I set Xbox vudu settings to play we only. Other movies Everest for example play hdx fine. This is the first hdr 4K movie I am trying. Xbox tested 521Mbps down.
