Re: Apple TV - Feedback and technical support

Boardwalk Empire TV series, which I own in HDX, is streaming in SD instead of HD in the Vudu app on the Apple TV (4th Gen). Also some other movies, which I own in HDX, are streaming in SD in the Vudu App. I know they are streaming in SD because when I swipe down on the remote's pad while streaming it does not show the HD logo but the ones that are streaming in HDX do show the HD logo, and of course it looks blurrier than HDX. I also have a 45 mbps internet connection, so it's not my internet's speed that's the issue.

Seems Vudu has to convert their streams to be able to play on Apple TV and I don't think they've done this yet for all TV shows. I know I own The League and Parks & Rec and they are still SD on Apple, but HDX on Roku.

Any word on the search bug? Months later and I still can't find a movie without scrolling through them all.

PLEASE for the love of God, give us an update so that after one TV episode is ending/ended the next one will begin.

I still can't search either. Why aren't all these basic things, such as Search, Audio, etc., getting fixed?

So is this just abandonware now? The audio issue was identified on the first day of the app being released nearly 3 months ago and nothing has been done. Releasing an app but not supporting it doesn't really help anyone.

Seems that Vudu really doesn't have enough engineers to support all their apps. Crazy that it was released on Aug 1 and hasn't had a single update since.

Another month, more silence. Seems like there was no point in releasing the app at all if they weren't going to support it.

Are you still seeing audio issues? Any issues with DD+ should have been resolved a while ago.

Meaning the issues didn't need an updated version of the app? I've been waiting for the app to update before using again, so assumed nothing was fixed.

                        Any word on UHD support?

The audio issue was content-related, we had to go through and update the DD+ on 150k+ HLS streams... that's why it took a while

UHD support is in development, but I can't really give any ETA yet.

Thank you for the response. Just curious......is there any quality difference in the streams of say Vudu HDX playing on a Roku Ultra vs Vudu HDX playing on Apple TV? Too bad it seems that you guys have to go through all these conversions just to get stuff to play on Apple.

For the most part the video quality should be identical (any differences would be due to the player/decoder hardware). The biggest differences for HDX are completely different "packaged"/streaming format and different DRM, rather than the video itself - for the most part it's "Apple, and everyone else"

For UHD it gets a bit more complicated, as Apple's UHD/Dolby Vision is a different format from what we have been using - requiring complete re-encodes, etc. As you can imagine, that's a lot more than just adding UHD to an app UI. But we're working on it.

Still no HDX in some episodes in The Little House in the Prairie and it's been about 3.5 months since this Vudu app became available on the Apple TV (4th Gen and 4k). Some episodes are still playing in SD in my Apple TV 4k but on my PC's Vudu app in Windows 10 those same episodes play in HDX but I rather not use my PC for streaming (I don't find it user friendly) and I don't want to buy another streaming box as this TV show is the only thing I watch through Vudu currently and buying another streaming box I think is overkill just so that I can watch every episode in HDX in a user friendly interface.
