They don't need to transact to be able to play UHD. Amazon doesn't allow purchases either and they handle UHD HDR fine. We've been told they need all new encodes of the UHD titles.....but they don't have THAT many. Seems something is up.....maybe because they won't make money they are purposely holding it back (which may be what you are saying).

If the app was just released a few months ago, I can give them a pass. But it was released over 7 months ago!!

At the risk of asking questions that have already been answered (I really can't seem to find clear answers), is the VUDU app on an Apple4K TV streaming in UHD? with or without HDR? I emailed support and all I got in response was a link pointing me to this forum and a smiley face. The ATV version of the app looks like it was thrown together in a hurry and really doesn't resemble any other version I have (Roku3, Roku Ultra, comps Sony and LG TV's) so much for the New Year/New Look pitch.

Some of the frustrations have been mention by others. Every other version of the app displays a lot of information when a movie is paused: playback quality (UHD, HDX), network connection quality, chapter selection etc. NONE of that shows on the ATV version. Am I not setting something up correctly? Am I being simple minded when I expect the app to look and respond exactly the same no matter what device I'm using?

I own a 2017 Sony XBR930E and the app built into the TV doesn't stream UHD either (that's a complaint for another thread I know) so that's how I wound up with streaming boxes

I would like an auto-play feature, at least when I am watching a tv show I would prefer it if next epsiode played automatically. A little impractical to have to start every episode manually.

This is one reason I still use my Roku. This and the watchlist is all messed up on the ATV still.

This. I normally don't like an auto play feature, but when I'm on Vudu watching a series, it's mainly because I want to binge what I already have, and it's a pain having to click every 20 minutes.

Also, last night I tried to watch Power Rangers in UHD, and every 15 mins or so it would freeze then buffer. After the 5th time it wouldn't stop buffering so I just closed the app out and did other stuff. I have watched UHD via the Roku app and it has never froze to buffer, as if my connection was going out, even though it was fine.

Still some episodes in Little House on the Prairie are playing in SD in the Vudu app on my Apple TV 4k when I own them in HDX. I can reproduce the issue, so I know my internet connection did not slow down as the cause. It's been like this ever since the Apple TV's Vudu app has been released. Therefore, I use my TV's Vudu app instead to watch this TV show, but the Vudu app on my TV sometimes quits on me while I stream.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record......is the Vudu app for Apple TV ever going to get UHD playback with HDR10 and DV? Please....can a Vudu employee please just give us a straight answer and maybe a decent timeframe?

Also, why can't the app work like the general Vudu app on other devices in regards to autoplaying the next episode. On the general Vudu app, you get autoplay, and if you are watching a series, it puts the next episode in your watchlist. On the ATV....the only thing the watchlist is good for is if you stop watching something in the middle. Is this ever going to be addressed?

Also on the ATV, if you started an episode, when you go back to it....there is no way to restart without rewinding. The ATV app doesn't get that popup like the general Vudu app.
