Android TV - Feedback and technical support

    Updated 5/3/2018

    Vudu is on Android TV!
Please use this thread to share (constructive) feedback, report previously un-identified bugs, and raise other technical issues.

For help with accounts, titles, and other non-Android TV issues, please reach out to support@vudu.com or @vudusupport on Twitter.

Vudu for Android TV is currently available on:
    • Xiaomi Mibox
    • Nvidia SHIELD
    • Sony 2018 TVs
    • [Limited Beta] Sony 2016-2017 TVs*
*We are opening up the Vudu Android TV app to Sony 2016 & 2017 TVs as a limited time beta.
With this new app users will receive the Android TV experience as well as the ability to purchase and stream 4K UHD content in HDR10 or Dolby Vision ( on 4K HDR models)

To participate, visit the Google Play Store on your Sony TV and install the Vudu app (version 4.1.37 or later).
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ablet&hl=en_US

Installing the Vudu Android TV 4K app will increment the number of devices activated to your account and count against your devices limit. You can deactivate existing Vudu app or the new Android TV 4K app at any time on your Manage Devices page.

Please note that during this beta we welcome and encourage your feedback within this forum thread, but cannot offer customer support for issues encountered.

Re: Android TV - Feedback and technical support

Overall, I like the new design of the official Android TV app.

I am disappointed that TV autoplay was lost in the update. That was one of my favorite features of the older SHIELD app. I hope this will be available in the official app soon. I know you said in another thread that it's coming.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but it appears the Watchlist feature isn't working right. That section still displays TV shows that I had previously been in the process of watching, but if I watch an episode of something new it does not get added to the Watchlist. Is this a bug or is the feature not fully implemented in the new app yet?

    Thanks!

Re: Android TV - Feedback and technical support

Thank you for this thread. I have a couple of android TV boxes, a MiBox from Walmart and a Nexus Player.

The basic android TV Vudu app lacks some features that are present in other versions of the app. I'm speaking of things like Autoplay which thankfully seems to be on the horizon, 4k playback on the MiBox, a version that works on x86 so that I can use it on the Nexus Player, and some basic UI fixes.

The UI on the old Shield TV app was so nice, it was similar to the Roku Vudu app. Also, it comes up every once in a while, but if you own the entire season of a show that was purchased through another e-tailer, the "Own Season" button still exists for that season. I'd like to see that remedied, not because I'm OCD about how things look, but because I fear re-buying a show I already own with a few errant mis-clicks.

Sometimes it feels like the android TV ecosystem is being abandoned by content providers, so thank you again for this thread, and for the continued support of the platform.

That's never been the way My Watchlist works.
If you're in the middle of viewing something and don't complete it, it will show in My Watchlist.
Once you're done, however, it should drop off the list.

The only way VUDU tracks a particular series is via the progress bars of individual episodes.

I will say that what you were asking brings up something I've suggested in the past and would love to see.
I wish VUDU would implement a playlist.
Some days, I have film festivals and I'd love to be able to pre-schedule the movies I want to watch and then just sit back and press PLAY.

        Ciao for now!
        Mike

Yeah, that's the way the Watchlist worked with the old SHIELD version of the Vudu app. Problem is that it's not doing that now that the official Android TV app has replaced it, which is why I'm wondering if it's a bug or simply that the feature is not yet completed.

Your playlist suggestion is good. I'll second that!

I've been having issues with Vudu on the Nvidia Shield TV for a while now. Plenty of buffering issues that I never had before the new update (hardwired and have 100mbps speed) and anytime I open Vudu, I get a 'vudu is not responding' pop up, and have to open Vudu again.

I've tried uninstalling updates, clearing cache and everything else I can think of but the issues persist.

The buffering doesn't happen all the time, but often enough to become annoying.

            Any advice?

Is development still going on for the AndroidTV version of Vudu? There hasn't been a release since last November.

Same issues here. Sent a note to Vudu-received form letter back to try all the things I have already tried and that I listed in the note I sent them. (which they did not read)

Update to 4.1.37 should be available in the Play Store soon.
This will address many bugs and we'll be targeting the next few releases to also include some of the missing features.

Note with this update, you may see a second, newly-created device in your Devices record (with the brand of your device). Keep that one and you can remove the initial one.

The new update did nothing to address the buffering issues that plague us even watching in SD. After update tried to watch a movie in HDX and it buffered after about 10 minutes...no change.

We have id'd the issue and are working on a fix in the next release.

Installed on my 930E. So far it's a nice update.

I will echo what Morac mentioned in the other thread......DV doesn't always get triggered.
