Jake, I went to Xfinity and talked with them about the buffering, found out that my modem was an older model, replaced it to their new high speed modem.....Checked the original Blade Runner 4K Dolby Vision and it ran for 20 minutes before it went to the Title screen with the spinning circles, had to exit back to the WATCH UHD screen and resume from there.....Watched Wonder Women UHD DV almost to the end when it just stopped, no buffering and kicked tv into the screensaver mode.

I did the update last night on my x930e before I bought and watched Black Panther. It did buffer one time about half way through the movie. I just backed out and restarted from where I was at and all was fine. I have 500mbs download speed with wired connection. The movie did look fantastic though. Very bright in Dolby Vision! On the darker scenes with very bright highlights(from fire, or lights in the movie) my tv did have some noticeable halos from the edge lighting on the tv, especially on the black bars. I can deal with that because everything else looked amazing and bright!

I?m seeing the opposite in the opening scenes back in the apartment in the past. The Dolby Vision looks posterized. Playing the rest and will see. So far once we get to present day it?s looking correct.

EDIT: some of the darker scenes just don?t look right. The black highlights are bad. This seems to be via the android app with DV. Using my Roku and only HDR it?s ok, just doesn?t look at good.

EDIT2: it really varies by scenes. Most of it is looking great in DV. There are some darker scenes where the highlights get posterized. Not sure if it?s something in the latest update or not since it didn?t watch BP before.

EDIT3: buffering really bad today. Had to switch to Roku as it was buffering every few minutes.

EDIT4: Just rebooted the TV and the posterization is gone! Still had to watch in Roku....buffering just non-stop.

The closed captions still show up a second or 2 before they are supposed to on the newly released version.

Just edited my post and posted on the AVS forums. I just rebooted the TV and the posterization is gone. Not sure if it's something that needs to be done periodically or after an app like the Vudu app gets updated.

Updated version via Sony tv Android app still kicked me out into screensaver mode while watching Black Panther DV 11 minutes in...Pressed back button and movie started back up and finished....I have 1 gig uverse internet....

Btw is this beta app gui gonna look like this on the official release or will it be like the one on the Roku Ultra 4K HDR but with DV included ? The Roku gui version is cleaner and sharper and would prefer this style as oppose to the cluttery look of the google android..

FWIW, I just fast forwarded to approx. 10:30 into BP, the scene where BP is picking up his "girlfriend", and watched until approx. 12+ minutes. No issue. I have Xfinity Gigabit.

Suffice it to say, the Beta Android TV app and the new Apple TV 4K are have different GUIs. But, I'll leave the beta question for Jake.

If it's set up to do so, which I think it is by default. You can always go into the Google Play app and manually install any updates. You can also enable auto-update in there if it's off.

I will have to enable auto update if it is not set. I was going to check google play on my PC but i see it no longer distinguishes the regular app from the Andriod App.

I do see the following notes on google play, Improvements to playback

I watched 41 minutes of Baby Driver in UHD last night and i have the May 10th updated Android TV app. I had to buffer issues but the app quickly recovered so while i need to test a whole movie i am optimistic it may have been fixed. Hopefully Jake will confirm if this version has the buffer issue fix.

It was improved in the latest update, but there are a couple other significant improvements going in the next release (which should be before the end of May). And of course beyond that, we will continue to work on reducing buffering as much as possible.
