    Media browser integration

    2 related queries

    1) is there any way to specify a download location separated from the vudu program data? I keep all of my media separate from my program files
    2) is there any way to see the movies I have on vudu to go in media center and play direct from the menu

    Re: Media browser integration

1: No, unless you install Adobe Air on your data drive (should be a moot point for UV titles once Common File Format aka CFF is released)

2: No, I expect both WMC and XBMC will support CFF, once it is released.

Hope that answers the questions, even if it's not that helpful.

I really hope XBMC supports CFF but I'm not sure if that will be possible. Likely the files will be encrypted and the players will need to register with UV for playback. I don't know if that means it will require some sort of license fee, which could very well keep XBMC from ever supporting it due to being opensource software.

On the other note, I've read online that Windows 8 is supposed to support CFF natively within the OS. But I don't know if that includes WMC.

Correct on all of those as far as I know - CFFs are encrypted, players do need to register with UV, there is a license, and because of that I would imagine an open source CFF player is unlikely...

I don't know if Windows 8 will natively support CFF, but it would seem like a good idea business-wise as Apple most definitely won't...

They hopefully will. From what I hear Microsoft has been big supporter of UV from beginning (and old rumors that Apple backed out because Microsoft and Sony were practically running the show).

But I do know for sure is Windows 8 is supposed to have Microsoft PlayReady DRM installed by default on Windows 8 boxes which will be the DRM CFF files will be using on Windows boxes. Only question is whether CFF will natively understood by Windows 8 or if they're just making it simple for UV apps to play CFFs. Either way works for me.
