Vudu and Roku - THE WORST!

I have dealt with this crap too long... Vudu is the absolute worst of any streaming site on the web. I have been using Roku for 1 1/2 yrs and never experienced the buffering, reloads and failures with any other streaming app like I do with Vudu. What a total waste of premium resources.

Tonite, once again, I fell to streams movie that, even now, has yet to p,at for longer than 20 mins before stopping and causing me to reset the Roku box.

    Money poorly spent.

    Upset!

We are working close with Roku engineering to find out why their player can get into this bad state. All I can say so far is that this issue won't happen on the Roku 3 with their upgraded hardware.

Would you be willing to work with our and Roku's customer care and potentially install some debug software?

What model and remote control control are you using?

Blame Roku, not Vudu. Vudu is awesome on the PS3!!

I have a Roku 3 coming this week to play with. I'll post any feedback that I find beneficial regarding the Vudu app.

I've only ever had a Roku 3 so I didn't have any of the other versions. I have the best streaming results with the Roku 3 as it never buffers like it does on so many other devices. I watched all three of the extended editions of "The Lord of the Rings" with no buffering over the course of 3 1/2 to 4 hours for each movie.

I have both a Roku 2 and Roku 3 and never had any buffering issues either. However, there can be a lot of different factors that can come into play.

Re: Vudu and Roku - THE WORST!

I've used Roku 2, 3, and numerous Blu-Ray players and never had any streaming issues. But then I have a ridiculous speed limit. In testing throttling my own connection when it gets below 20, and esp below 10 some devices (usually older Roku's or Blu-Ray players) can start to choke. Note that it's the player, not Vudu. However, these rates are well above what Vudu states in minimum or ideal for HDX streaming. The point is with inexpensive or older hardware AND internet below 20 there are often issues, but it's not Vudu's servers. If I throttle a bit more I can introduce similar effects on music streaming services when the speed is technically more than ideal for the service. Problem again is that hardware can't compensate for less than perfect conditions. Take the speed back over 50 and on even the cheapest hardware so buffering issues.

The Roku 2 XS I bought had major buffering issues with VUDU using the wireless connection. Netflix and Amazon worked great. I changed my connection to wired then VUDU also worked very good. The new Roku 3 I got works great for all the streaming services using wireless. Both devices were connected to my 50 Mb internet.

Constant buffering? Sounds more like a bandwidth problem, your internet must not be good enough.
