A movie will not download on a roku device. In fact a rental will not download to any device. You can only stream it.

echopulse is correct, although if there was a network error message that means that it was probably trying to stream the rental. Downloading should not have even been available as an option on a rental, IIRC.

Don't worry, stepweb4, if the movie couldn't play all the way through you'll definitely be able to get a refund in addition to technical troubleshooting from Vudu.

I had the same problem yesterday - I could not STREAM our rental movie. Kept getting NETWORK ERROR message - try again later. I rebooted Roku, checked speed (17800 kbs) then tried Netflix and Hulu - they worked just fine. Went back to Vudu, tried to play some trailers - NETWORK ERROR.

There is something wrong with the VUDU delivery system - it doesn't work. I would like to get my $7 dollar rental fee refunded as this service stinks.

I contacted support and 24 hours later all I have had is an automated message. I just tried VUDU and it is working now.
Maybe Comcast is slowing down the data rate for VUDU, the same as they did with Netflix over the past month. Netflix is now paying a fee to Comcast to guarantee high-speed delivery - Vudu should take some of the $7 rental fee and pay it to Comcast to keep their business operating, else they will be out of business with dial-up speeds.

FCC has given Comcast permission to restrict data flows, so we will see more of this crap.
