I have the same issues. Not amused that I purchased UHD and not getting my monies' worth. Would like a refund if a fix isn't found. In the meantime, here is the details. Same issue like everyone else with sound dropping in and out (noise to completely mute) for any of the 3 Avengers movies on UHD. No issues with HDX. TV is 2018 Samsung UHD Smart (NU7100) with latest version of firmware (1152.7). Audio output to Samsung bar. Same UHD audio issues if output to TV's internal speakers. Please help. Thx

It does the same thing for us on a Samsung 8 4K TV. If it?s a 4K movie, the sound is choppy and there?s no way to turn Dolby Atmos off. Regular HD movies are fine. We tried watching Infinity War and it would just randomly cut in and out throughout the movie, and then the back speakers from our system would suddenly go loud. We tested it with a movie that isn?t 4K and used Dolby Digital, and it was perfect.

This happened again tonight as I went to watch Solo, cutting out several times early on, so we switched to HDX and didn't encounter the issue again. With regards to the previous reply, I'm using the TV's on board speakers. I can be pretty sure it's not a hardware issue as I've been watching Amazon UHD TV shows and have yet to have an issue with them.

Came here to post this. Experiencing this choppy/muting/cutting out audio on recently purchased The Matrix. Had I would have known it was going to be poor quality like this, I would have spent my money on the physical media instead that performs flawlessly with my setup. Samsung Q65F, Samsung N850 Soundbar. Wired ethernet connection. N850 says I'm getting Atmos sound through Vudu. I don't have this problem with Amazon Prime UHD/Atmos content or physical media content...Please fix this issue, or send me a refund.

I have a 2018 Samsung Q6FN and the VUDU app drops audio incessantly in 4K UHD mode. Skipping forward/back and even using chapters is also impossible in UHD, causing it lockup and forcing you to stop playback. I've had to resort to defaulting to HD.

Weren't Vudu engineers able to fix this for LG TV's via a USB firmware update? Can we expect something similar for Samsung?

                      • Dunkirk
                      • It (2017)
                      • Lego Ninjago Movie
And probably a couple of others that I can't remember right now. It seems to affect recent UHD titles. Older titles like Everest, Central Intelligence, and Jupiter Ascending play fine with perfect audio.

My TV is connected via HDMI ARC to a Sony soundbar (model HT-ST5000). I tried using an optical connection as well but that didn't help. The TV is running the latest firmware and the Vudu app is also the most recent version. As soon as I switch from UHD to HDX on the affected titles, the audio is perfect. Also, when I switch the audio output format in the TV's settings from "Auto" to "PCM," the problem goes away. But then I'm left with low quality 2-channel sound.

My temporary work-around was to use a Chromecast Ultra to stream these titles in UHD, but that has problems of its own (see my post here). Any insight into both of these issues (choppy audio on LG app and no UHD via Chromecast Ultra) would be appreciated!
I'm having the exact same issue on my brand spanking new 2018 Samsung 82" QLED TV set using the built-in VUDU app playing Stephen King's IT (UHD quality setting). changing to HDX mode fixes the audio issue.

I'm surprised that most of the people having this issue are also on Samsung sets like mine. Do you track issues with tickets?

Well? I just bought Samsung Q7 and a Sonos sound bar. Sound is cutting out while streaming movies using the Vudu app on the tv. Don't have any issues with any other apps so far. Stream live & recorded tv via You Tube TV flawlessly. Didn't even occur to me it was a Vudu issue till I went to Google search with my problem.
Hopefully Vudu will come up with a fix. Pretty damn annoying.

I am having the same problem. Sound and picture drops out in 4K and Dolby atmos. I realized it works fine if it HDX or if the movie doesn?t have Dolby atmos. The picture drops and sound when it is UHD and Dolby atmos combined. I am on LG and Roku Ultra.
