Weird playback issue on Android cell phone

    By the way when I got a new replacement phone for my GPS issue on it I downloaded VUDU on the brand new one without doing updates. Worked just fine. Did the system updates besides the last 2 on the phone still worked. Completed the last 2 required updates on the phone and it started only showing half the screen. Problem lies within one of the last 2 updates for the LG G5 phone. Narrowed it down for you can I have an update on what is being done to fix this please.

            This is still an issue. Someone from VUDU needs to talk to LG or Android and get this compatibility issue resolved. No reason the people with a G5 phone must get a new phone in order to play movies on the VUDU app.

            I literally got a new G5 sent to me and I am not updating it just to watch VUDU app movies and actually be able to see them. This is all unnecessary and very much a waste of time.

            Just because this doesnt affect a ton of members doesnt mean this can just be skipped over. Something needs to be done. Please. I am not buying a new phone just to watch VUDU movies. I should be able to watch them on any device.

            Please do something more to solve this. Please.

              We are still working with LG to get this resolved. This is a specific issue with the LG G5 phone. It would be up to them to release a firmware update to address this issue specifically.

                Will this issue ever going to be fixed?? It has been almost 4 months now and I can not watch any movies on my phone with your app.

                  Six months now and the problem is not fixed yet. Now LG is claiming "this is like likely a result of the apps' incompatibility with the newer software versions. In such case, the apps will need to be recalibrated and updated to stay fully compatible with newer Android versions." So LG is saying it is your fault that that app is not working right with the LG G5 from US Cellular.

                    They can blame the Vudu app, but it doesn't mean it's true.

                    There are many discussions on this issue with the LG G5 online - people are sometimes seeing it on Google Play, Youtube, etc:

                    Curious - does it happen on all video, or just purchased one? ie can you try a trailer?

                      It only happens with the movies I bought. The trailers and ads play fine. The same thing happens with google play, youtube and movies anywhere for any movie I bought.

                        Please disregard my last post. Just got the latest update 5 min. ago and seams to be working fine with the Vudu app, But I can only watch in SD only no HDX at all. I used to be able to view movies in HD before I had this issue on my phone.

                          It won't let you play any HDX? The most common reason for this is the Widevine DRM on the phone is not reporting "Level 1" support. Here's a somewhat technical but pretty detailed article explaining what that means:

                            I can play HD stuff with Amazon and Hulu just fine. And the app "DRM Info" from that article you linked is reporting the I have Level 1 support with Widevine. Only VUDU is not letting me play anything in HD on my phone.
