Random "ultraviolet account required" message interrupts movie playback

When I am watching movies from my account (using a Sony BDPS5200 blu-ray player), it randomly pops up a "ultraviolet account required" message box and stops the movie and kicks me back to where I have to press "resume movie" to resume the playback.

    Can anyone help with this?

Your Ultraviolet account may have expired/become unlinked from VUDU (this shouldn't happen, but there was an issue with this a few months ago). You may have to login to your VUDU account on www.vudu.com, selected Ultraviolet from the user menu in the upper right corner, and enter your Ultraviolet credentials again.

Just checked my account, it is still linked. Just to clarify, sometimes it doesn't happen at all (the second movie I watched last night did not do it). Also when it does happen, I can click on Resume Movie and and it will resume playing fine.

So, unfortunately it is not as black and white as the UV account being unlinked but just appears to be a random bug (to which my wife complains anytime I want to watch something from my library that "it crashes all the time so I don't know why you don't just watch the blu-ray").

So, you see my delemma when I am trying to convince my family to move to digital, lol

You may be having intermittent connection problems with your internet. If there is no connection when your device attempts to download the next chunk of the movie then you will get the "ultraviolet account required" message. Try rebooting your modem and router.

Nothing else internet related ever has any issues (Netflix, WWE Network, on-line gaming....). It is Vudu specific.

As someone suggested, I tried unlinking the UV and VUDU accounts and then relinking. No luck, watched 2 movies from my library and still got the popup once in each movie.

One good thing is that pressing the "back" key on the remote gets rid of the pop up box without stopping playback. Still very annoying though.

Does this happen with movies you're not importing from UV? (Ex. Movies you purchased or redeemed with VUDU).

Could you send me your VUDU account email address in a private message?

Yes, the one movie that it happened with last night was an "instawatch" movie that I purchased yesterday directly from Wal-mart.com and it was automatically put into my VUDU library. The other movie that it happened to last night I believe was probably from UV.

In the past I really hadn't paid attention to the source of the movie when it happened, so beyond the two examples from yesterday, it is hard to say.

That should be enough for us to get a bug started for it.

Does anyone know if this issue was ever fixed? It just started for me when using the Tivo Vudu app.

I can tell you that it did go away for me and I have not seen it again for months.

I was getting this message last night. Also was getting buffering while playing back a movie. Watching on a Roku device. I NEVER get buffering when watching anything else. I have a very fast internet connection and shouldn't be having these issues.

I just bought a Sony BDP-S3500 and was watching a Vudu instawatch movie and got the same message. Before this I had a Sony BDP-S3200 and had never seen this on the vudu app before. Been using vudu for a few years now.

Did anyone find out a fix for this? I checked and my UV account is still linked.

This is also happening to me with my Lego Movie which was redeemed through Flixster. This doesn't happen to me on anything redeemed directly on VUDU.

I'm having the same issue. It's with Scrooged which was disc to digital. How do I fix it?
