Why is vudu buffering ever 20 seconds??

I can't watch what I purchased because vudu keeps buffering. I can watch Netflix and Hulu all day long without a single issue. This is not about my band width or being outside the U.S.

How can I make the buffering stop?

My Vudu regularly buffers every 10 seconds on my Roku2 box. Every other streaming service works fine. I have Disc to Digital items in my library, and had considered converting most of my DVD library. But when I try to watch anything, after three minutes (where I get maybe 90 seconds of video and 90 seconds of buffering) I end up pulling out the disc again.

If I see a title for rent or purchase that's only available on Vudu, I just resign myself to not watching it. Currently the service is unusable on my device. Any fixes?

A lot of times, rebooting the device will help. If you need troubleshooting, please give us a call at (888)554-8838 so that we can help.

sometimes if their is a issue I dropped the quality down to hd or even sd dont compare to netflix they have top of the line servers that can transcode on the fly and adjust to your download speed

I see and issue with ps3 but that is on wifi and it uses the older 802.11b/g so it will struggle with HDX sometimes , it's best to use it with a Ethernet cable. This is also the case for any device that is not a/n signal

I also have this problem with my Roku 3. My mileage varies on whether or not a reboot of the Roku will help; yet Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, and other video streaming services work fine. It's very frustrating, since my ultraviolet account is tied to my VUDU.

It hasn't always been this way. VUDU was solid like everything else on the same device for the first 1-2 years I have owned the equipment I stream VUDU on. In the past 6 months or so, the buffering issue would randomly manifest itself at first, but has become progressively more prevalent the longer time goes on.

Are others having this problem on other devices or is it isolated to the VUDU app on Roku's? If it is isolated to Roku devices, it seems the VUDU app needs fixin'.

Not to take away from your issue, but I have two Roku 3s in the house, and we've watched dozens of HDX movies on Vudu without any issues. It may be there's an issue that occurs more often in the Roku 3 or only in some of them, but I just wanted to point out that it's not universal. (Which is a little unfortunate, as it would probably make it much easier to pinpoint, and more of a priority to fix.)

Are the Rokus wired or wireless? Mine are wired.

@DanielH: I have not yet, as I used to think VUDU's servers were just having problems at those times (since it was only happening with the VUDU app.) But after this last time, I decided to Google to see if others were having problems specifically with Roku 3's before contacting support. It sounds like I'm not the only one.

I will contact support when I get some time, but I imagine there won't be much they can do for me except recommend rebooting the device. But if all who have the problem contact them they will know if it is a larger-scale problem or not.

Good question, Max, and I apologize because I thought I had mentioned it in my previous post... my Roku is wired.

Regardless, I'm trying to figure out why other streaming services that provide similar resolution and sound format are working fine, and why it is happening so often nowadays. It seems like it is happening more often than not when I go into the VUDU app as-of-late, so I'm starting to avoid it.

Mine does the same thing. I was in Raleigh recently and it worked fine there on a friends Roku. At home however, its suddenly buffering every now and then. Now it's very painful to stream most the time. All other app work great. We've never had a problem with network signal. If I can, I switch to SD instead of HD, but even that doesn't always work. I'll try to call the help number next week that Dan posted. I've loved VUDU up until this point and with my kids we have a ton of Disney movies linked to it, so I would like to continue using VUDU like we have
