UPDATE: I previously stated that this issue appeared to have been fixed. Well, it came back for me yesterday. Same as before, the same error comes up randomly after a few minutes of playback. I will try the fix suggested above. Again, no issues whatsoever with 4K playback on Netflix, Amazon Prime or FandangoNow....just VUDU.

I've been playing content on the C8 every day for the past couple weeks and thus far have not been able to reproduce this issue. We'll keep trying until we get it figured out. Next time you see the issue, please make note of the exact time of day and let us know. We'll try to see if there is any info in the logs that can help us determine the issue.

I just purchased and watched equalizer 2 on Vudu and watched it on my lg c8 and it worked perfectly. I will give another update when I watch another movie, but this does look promising.

I have a 2018 LG 43UK6500AUA and as of last night Tuesday, November 13 VUDU just stopped working. Some movies will start then stop. Some movies won't start at all. Some movies will only play on SD but they will also stop. Six of my movies disappeared. Always a network error. I have updated my wifi, checked for software updates and nothing. It just stopped. Please fix the issue. Thank you.

Tried the fix last night and then previewed various 4K content for 10-15 minutes... so far no issues, but I need to have the movies play longer to confirm the issue is fully resolved.

@Vudu QA Team --- I just purchase a LG 65" AI Q - I'm having the same issue as others on almost any 4k title. If you can pull logs on my viewing of Spiderman homecoming last night I had to restart the movie ~10+ times with an error of "Video playback stopped working". I tried, wired, wifi and 5g. My connection speed on fast.com from the TV is 200mbs+. It does not appear to buffer if needed, simply crash out the playback. My guess is there is a overflow of some kind within the TV not being accounted for. Willing to help your team trouble shoot however I can as its very consistently replicatable on my TV.

                  Thanks!

                  -Andrew

UPDATE: Since applying the fix, I've been watching various UHD movies for over an hour each with not a single issue. As of now, it appears the issue has been fixed for me. Not sure why this isn't working for everyone else though, would be nice to get an update from VUDU support on this.

Hi, what do you mean "since applying the fix"? What fix did you apply?

The Vudu app is constantly giving me "video playback stopped working" on my LG 65sk9000pua. I've tried multiple different videos, some UHD and some HDX (regular HD).

I'd be happy to work with Vudu tech support , if that's an option.

UPDATE: Ugh, looks like I spoke too soon! After a few days of solid playback, I got the dreaded playback error last night while watching Transformers: Last Knight. I started it up again and played fine for a few minutes before the error came back again. Its really annoying how VUDU is the ONLY UHD streaming service that has these occasional issues. I've read other related threads where it appears VUDU is trying to shift the blame to ISPs or network issues and that may be in some cases, but for me, I do UHD streaming on Netflix, Amazon and FandangoNow and not ONCE have any of these services had any playback issues. There is definitely something that needs to be fixed on the VUDU app for LG TVs. I suggest VUDU engineering team contact Netflix for software development support.

I just bought a 2018 LG 4K Model Number 55k8000 PUK television. When using the built in Vudu player application on the TV, the player crashes after a few minutes with the error message "Sorry, the video player has stopped working.''Please try again."

This seemed to start happening after I upgraded to the latest version of WebOS on the TV (version 4.1.0.5509.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Vudu app, which didn't seem to help on this LG TV.

I have a blue ray player the Vudu app on this plays fine no problems. Also the Vudu app play fine on my Vizio Tv that has the app installed.

I'm really glad I found this post after some googleing. Signed up just so I can comment. Tried watching Thor Ragnorok with my buddy, really proud to display it in it's 4k HDR glory. Kept cutting off every 5 minutes on my LG OLED C8 with this stupid error. Come on Vudu, fix your freaking app!!!!
